Don't be fooled or be conned by the same guy that did this to me. They wanted to sign the contract which I did and called before the agreement to have it cancelled and Ramimanager agreed to. Everytime I call or message him about my contract he never lets me finish and cut me off and just say that he is doing it already. I live an hour away from the gym and could've gone there myself to settle things, but I don't want to cause I might just get the same treatment as when I call. He keeps telling me that he is doing it and he cancelled my contract already and he is processing my refund already. I'm a part time student and part time working as well. I explained to him so many times already that I couldn't and don't have no time at all to go to the gym and workout. This conversation has been going on since last year of December. And same lies has been said ever since, I call Steve Nash Head office seeking help from their very own employee and they just answered very rudely and said "it's your contract! It's your responsibility to update him about it all the time." I called them seeking help but they just answered me that way. I don't know what I'm gonna do with this, I don't have the time to keep on thinking about this. I hope with this review something will be done to help me. Please! UPDATE: I got my refund back, because of the new manager Natasha, thank you so much!
*Update Jan 5 2021* Got a call from Ben - seems he replied to my email but I did not receive it. We chatted a bit more and he was able to help with my membership inquiry. *Previous review posted Dec 2020* Does anyone work here ?? I sent email about my membership no replies . I call in and finally get ahold of someone , I'm told I need to come into sign some paperwork. I come in and there's noone at the front desk , waited 30 mins and no staff were around . Sign says they're cleaning . Walked around to try and find staff cleaning and there's noone around . So either your staff dipped or they're working out and not wearing a uniform.
I canceled mine and my wife's subscriptions back in February before SN closed all their locations. A few weeks ago I found out that they had been charging my credit card since August and already took $150 out of my visa card. Tried to contact them but there was no phone number or email to do so, very frustrating situation. Finally a week ago I got a hold of someone over the phone at this location, explained the whole situation and they said they were gonna request a refund on my behalf. Tired of waiting decided to go in person to this location only to find out that our subscriptions are still active and that we are passed due on our paymentsI canceled my credit card to stop the payments so the guy at the front told me that he couldn't cancel the membership because I owed them money, I also found out that no request had been filed on my behalf for the reimbursement of this unauthorized charges. I don't know what to do, this is a very frustrating situation for me, I am a busy man with no time to waste on this bs situation, a just want a full refund for this unfair charges.
Now, they have named it Fitness World, which is totally treating the guests and previous customers unmannerly, just like Steve Nash did it in the past or even worse. They are promoting $7.5 bi weekly, but if you are the previous member, there is nothing you gain from this. WHY?, first you have to cancel your account under Steve Nash, taking a month to be cancelled,. That means the previous rate with Steve Nash will be charged another month. Most of the people pay more than $7.5. That's why people want to cancel their account. Right? However, after waiting for another month, you have to pay for the enrollment fee $40 if you want to contract the $7.5 promotion, and the maintenance fee will be charged after three months. In this pandemic, they refused to receive the phone call regarding the cancellation, asking the people to visit the place physically. Plus, now it is October, as they have opened August 28th?, they have been charging the customers without any notice. At least, they should have given the customers choice to come or not considering this pandemic, rather than stealing the money from customers' account. Tons of seniors would have trouble finding this, and cannot get their money back. Low staffing and no respectful policy or any consideration of this situation. Your company doesn't deserve anything here. I feel so sorry for the staff working for this company as they are the front lines facing all the complaints from the people. Plus, your company doesn't follow the health protocols preventing the covid-19. Already positive case occurred in this location this morning. Please wear the masks properly and require it mandatory. Increase the staffing so that the management will go smoothly. Whatever you do, you have already lost your trust from many many potential customers.
Don't listen to the responses from the "owner". They won't do anything about it. The same concerns have been raised over and over again, yet nothing has been done. Men's workout area still smells, washrooms still dirty, machines so old that the cables can't even move smoothly anymore a 10lbs setting feels like a 50lbs. There's literally rust on these machines. I understand that you don't need the latest equipments, but at least maintain what you currently have. They keep charging these club "improvement" fees around $60, but I don't see a dime's worth of improvement. I know because I've been a member for over 15 years. I live 5 minutes away from this location, yet I travel 20 minutes and pay for parking everyday to use the Marine Gateway location. The parking cost alone is more than my yearly membership. That should say something about the lengths I go through to avoid this place. If you're thinking about joining this location, don't! PS: To the so called 'owner', please don't bother replying to this review. I know you're just a person in charge of online marketing, and replying to reviews with template responses is pretty much all you can do. You'll thank me for my feedback and you'll forward this to "upper" management. Even worse, you'll ask for my contact information so you can address my concerns. Why? My concerns and everyone else's are explicitly stated in the reviews. Address them. You've been forwarding to "upper" management for years. If it didn't work the first year, it's not going to work the next 10. If you are really the owner of this club, then shame on you.
Like most people, I use the gym because it's in my neighborhood. Yes the equipment isn't overly modern, and I actually dont mind the low ceilings. The women's only section has everything I need, although it is kinda chilly in the winter. The room where they hold classes is massive, and certain classes get very busy. The staff are not properly trained, usually don't know what they're talking about, and don't go out of their way to be warm or welcoming. I have trained with 2 personal trainers because it was offered for free for me. I think their names were Chris and Haylee. Both trainers were very good, and I would train with them in a heartbeat albeit the price. Drop $500-1000 on a handful of sessions? If I made 60k a year, sure! What they charge for personal training is inaccessible for many. One of the managers who spoke with me after Haylee's session was extremely pushy and asked me very personal questions about my financial business. Inappropriate! I haven't tried the pool yet because the days alternate from women, then then next day men, and so on. Sunday's are a unisex day. The parking lot- good luck finding a spot. I've always just walked and when I'm approaching the building, there's at least 2 or 3 cars looking for a spot. This location is the original Steve Nash. Personally, I don't mind that it's smaller and lower ceilings, makes it feel more cozy to me. I've been to the one in Victoria and it's huge and lots of space and that honestly made me feel more vulnerable/exposed. This location could honestly be great. In this case it's about the people in the community. If the staff took the time to acknowledge clients, maybe even learn their names, and were more communicative... This place could become more like a community/family. At the end of the day it's about how people are treated. Being helpful and compassionate goes a lot way. It's too bad cancelling the membership sounds like a horrible process. If the time comes, I will be sure to be very thorough and even get a new debit card so I'm not charged unneccessarily. If I could make a suggestion to this specific gym, I would say be less corporatey, and become more customer oriented.
Need more eliptical machines ,some newer bikes, good staff, young...,need to to open the pool. The staff should be on the members who drop the weights and sit around on the phone taking up space not working out.I am sure the owners don't want to have to replace equipment all the time.
