State & Main Kitchen & Bar

State and Main is a pub/restaurant located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. What I liked about it were the different beers from a large variety of breweries on tap, and the bartender was good at their job, mixing tasty drinks. Unfortunately, that's all I enjoyed. The food was overpriced, it took too long to come out, and it wasn't good enough to justify the price point. I wouldn't eat here again if I didn't have to.

My wife Nicole and I love coming here right after our Sunday Church ⛪. I really enjoy their banana 🍌 bread 🍞 French toast. It's very delicious 😋 and there service here is awesome as well. 👍😊

Atmosphere was crowded, claustrophobic. Tiny tables and dirty menus. Servers were inattentive and overworked. Server dropped my wife’s food, spilled some of one dish into another, spoiling her meal, still tried to serve it to her. My burger “The Main” was nothing worth writing home about, suffice it to say I’ve enjoyed a quarter pounder from McDonald’s more than this bland and poorly-prepared dish. The saving grace of my meal was the jalapeño cheddar corn bread, which was excellent. Save yourself the money and look elsewhere.

The stars are for the food only because the service that we experienced was awful. It was our first time to State & Main...definitely a sports bar but not comfortable & welcoming like BP. Unfortunately our server was very unhelpful (we asked 3 times for ketchup and finally were brought an empty container! We never did get any ketchup! Water wasn't replenished even though we asked several times; lemon for our water arrived after 3 requests when our water was nearly gone). The food we ordered was delicious and nicely presented.

Staff are friendly and attentive, but every time I've gone the food was just ok. Pricing? Decent, if I was more excited about the eats.
