Mauro's Italian Cafe & Bar

GREAT place! Awesome service and food. We go here all the time, but the only thing we would like to see different is some background music, its too quiet.

My wife and I haven't been in for awhile but we've always loved the ambiance and love to see that group of distinguished gents at the bar for their daily meet. We were served by a lovely girl whom I'm assuming is from the U.K. judging by her beautiful accent - wonderful lady. We only stopped for a beer but will be back to sample the cuisine. Thank you, new owners for eliminating karaoke from your venue. I'm sure you've only served to raise tbe caliber of your clientele. Good job.

Extremely disappointed with not only the service but the whole experience. My family was down from Calgary and we decided to make reservations with Mauros for NYE. When we asked any reccomendations for popular pastas on the menu our waitress's answer was "I don't know". My sister asked her how a certain dish was, whether the sauce is creamy, and again she was extremely rude saying " No idea" with no other suggestions about any items on the menu. We also asked about the beer and wine list and again she gave the "I don't know." I don't expect the waitress to know all the items on the menu however she could be more friendly and give opinions and suggestions on what has been popular and what people order alot of. Once we had ordered I informed our waitress I had a severe nut allergy. I had ordered the chicken alfredo. She came back to me and said the sauce had nutmeg but they could use another sauce which was garlic. I agreed. Ten minutes later she came back saying the kitchen can't guarantee anything and won't make anything separate for me. So I asked for a hamburger plain and she rudely answered "I can't guarantee anything. The only thing you can have is plain steak no sauce and potatoes." We didn't order and left Mauros immediately. I have been to many restaurants who are very sympathetic and accomodating with nut allergy or any allergy for that matter. I felt completely disregarded and basically was sensing that she did not want us eating there once I had informed them of my nut allergy. I would not recommend this place as it was very unwelcoming from the start and clearly customer service is not a priority for all. If I could I wouldn't give this place 1 star. Very disappointing especially on New Year's Eve.
