The fries were delicious nice and crispy. The beef however was not as I thought it would be. It has a lot of fat and was sort of rubbery. It has a nice flavor but probably wouldn't buy it again. I'm very picky about meat so maybe it was just me I don't like to eat fat or crissle. If you enjoy soup they have tons of different soups to buy which I plan to try on my next visit. The place is sort of old and could use a good cleaning but overall I'd go back to try the soup.
Starship is this amazing little place that you could easily mistake for a little hole in the wall as you walk by. Some further inspection will tell you it's a Star Trek themed sandwich joint, but the place needs no gimmicks. The sandwiches are consistently wonderful, and their soups are impressive in both quality and quantity. Sandwiches come with homemade chips, and unless you're very hungry a typical 6" and chips could net you 1-2 meals. They use sesame seed loaves, and they don't skimp on meat/toppings. Rounding out the experience, you have friendly and personable staff, and they bring your food out to you. All in all, Starship is one of the top two reasons I find myself coming back to this area again and again the other one being Johnnie's, and even with a 40 minute hike the food always makes the journey worth it. Bottom line: fun vibe, great food, nice people. 5/5 do recommend.
Fun sandwich place. Homemade potato chips. Since we were new in the neighborhood and just getting to know them they offered us a bag of free chips homemade right there. And said we were free to sample things when we came in just let them know that we were new. They have a great selection of soups and stews packaged in single serving containers for takeout. Very friendly place. And as you can see from the pictures, starship decor on the walls. Next time I go I'm going to take home some soup or stew. Give it a try I'm sure you'll like it. Practically gourmet with really reasonable prices.
I have passed this place many times. I have even locked my bike up in front of it many times to go to the convenient store a couple doors down. I have been wanting to check it out. Yesterday i went. Man am i glad i did. The food is really good and reasonably priced. Not only that the place is full of cool start trek memorabilia. I definitely love it and will be going back. The owner even told me a story about how he got sued by Paramount when the name was The Starship Enterprises Inc. Lol. Cool place, cool people, cool local business owner. Starship just celebrated its 45th anniversary and it was awesome . This restaurant makes some if THE best soups I have ever had. And the Friday specials of a giant cod sandwich and New England clam chowder are truly lovely.Food: 5/5
Out and about on the West side burbs and we found this place for lunch. Now this, is a Deli. I had the cream of mushroom soup with The Jefferson and babe had the Chicken Cheddar soup and The Italian. Whoa! They make their own chips with your sandwich. This is why we are foodies and we always find the best places to eat. The soups are exceptional. Absolutely will be back.
Looking for Best Corned Beef near Oak Park? Definitely give Starship Sandwiches and Subs a try. Corned beef did not disappoint, tasty beef piled high slathered in dressing, not so oily, not so messy. Pickle and sauerkraut are nicely sour. Can't try a sub shop without a cheesy beef... only complaint was not enough marinara, otherwise moist beef and good bread. Fries are extra crispy and coated. Soups caught my eye on the way out, until next time Starship, dinner was a blast!
Ordered January 18 2023 at 508pm a grill cheese and onion tomatoes with lettuce 1 sandwich 1 root beer float and 1 order fries service was fast and then NO grill cheese with onion lettuce tomatoes NO root beer float and the recipe i have and the receipt they have is different then to correct they claim talk to management tomorrow morning really. Then want me to pay for the mistake. I have a receipt that states 1 fries 1 grill cheese they state 2 grill plain grill cheese what is the problem.
Amazing vibe, incredible food, and some of the nicest service I’ve ever received.
Changed the fries they are very bad. Their house made chips were soggy and moist. Received a cold polish sausage ski bomber. Just not good
