This needs to be on everyone's bucket list to do at least once. The street parade before the stampede shows is free and very cosmopolitan and well worth the watch. Then head on down for the stampede itself and the spectacular evening show.
The stampede park is an amazing space for the Calgary Stampede. One thing that could be better is that the food stall lanes are quite narrow and during peak times, too crowded to walk through. They should widen the space for walking through the food stalls to avoid congestion.
The rides prices have increased in the last few years since Covid. One ride can be $10 if you don’t buy a bigger ticket pack. You can get a wristband with all day access for $60 which is probably worth it if you plan to spend all day at the fair.nnFireworks go off at 10:50PM best view area is in the children zone. We rode the Ferris wheel right at 10:50PM and got the most amazing views. The main act at the Coca Cola stage usually start at 9:45-10PM. The area can get pretty crowded.nnWe arrived at the grounds pretty late around 8PM which did not allow for much time to do rides and concert. We did not get to see all the animals. Would recommend at least 6 hours at the fair.nnLots of food options, some have longer lines than others. We got pizza, popcorn, lemonade, fried oreo, and poutine.nnGood bathrooms in the stadium building and near the Coca Cola stage.nnIf you leave right after the fireworks there are lots of crowds. Consider walking a few blocks before getting an uber. There are also designated blocks for uber pick up which are a bit away from the gate.
Definitely an event you should attend if on when visiting. People are friendly like a carnival event. Went on the last weekend was very busy but did enjoy the event worth going.
The Calgary Stampede this year felt overwhelmingly crowded, making the experience less enjoyable for many attendees. The lines for rides were excessively long, often requiring waits up to an hour or more. Additionally, ride prices have noticeably increased compared to previous years.
