Best gym in the city if you want to get scammed. Considered having a membership at the gym, unfortunately the negative reviews and the owner responding very toxic and entitled like a child is a huge turn away. Refusing to tell you how much the gym costs? Having to send a letter to cancel your membership? This is not how real-life works. This is a copy and paste of an online subscription service NIGHTMARE. And to finish this review off with a touch of the owner's magic; We hope to see you soon at the St Thomas Health Club! *scary music playing*
I was a member of this gym for nearly 3 years. When my annual membership was up for renewal, I had asked what it would cost to go to bi-weekly payments instead of paying the year upfront. I was shocked when they were going to charge me new member pricing when I was explicitly told when I signed up, that my rate was locked in. I know of other members that signed up around the same time or after I did and were paying ~$22 bi-weekly. They wanted to charge me $30 bi-weekly. The owner Traci then told me that all membership prices were going up to $30 bi-weekly for regular membership and that she was currently in talks with their lawyer about how they can make this happen. When I originally signed up start of covid the gym was fine, spacious and clean. Other members are friendly and respectful. But now in their new facility, the space is smaller, they got rid of a lot of machines. They have different sized plates 44s and 45s, 33s and 35s, 22s and 25s that look very similar and not enough weight trees to keep them separate. No water fountain, you have to go into the bathroom to fill up your water bottle. Tiny, co-ed locker room. Tiny bathroom/change room that always smells. Old, worn out machines, cable machines that always seem to break. So many TV's, it's distracting having so many TV's. If you are going to sign up here, read your contract very carefully. They will gloss over things in the contract then hide behind those same things in the contract to make it very difficult to cancel. Current membership prices: $30 bi-weekly for regular membership. $40 bi-weekly for their "gold" membership. Plus whatever other fees they can tack on. I'm sure there will likely be a response about how they have been in business for over 25 years blah blah, but that has been different business names and numbers because they have gone bankrupt numerous times. Unfortunately, St Thomas doesn't have many other options for gyms but save your money and headaches and skip this place.
Was looking for a gym in the area, this being a 24/7 facility caught my eye. Few things to note: I usually look at the negative reviews for any product/service I’m considering. There’s always a few randoms, but sometimes a pattern emerges and you can piece an idea of what can go wrong. That being said, reading through the 1 star reviews I am appalled at how the owners are handling them. Major red flags, I mean the essays they leave under these reviews are so petty and certainly not “great customer service” they keep boasting about. “No calling about prices” is sketchy and raises some red flags as well. Lastly, from what I understand the 24 hour access is on an extra payment tier, but is also with “fob access”, which means there’s likely no staff on premise. This just screams money grab to me. P.S. the “coveted full length lockers” bit in one of the owner’s ill advised responses had me rolling Edit: of course the owners respond with another essay. Let me put it for them this way. I look at negative reviews because those highlight potential issues that can arise. Reading 5 star reviews is generally pointless, because they just indicate that the service/product was up to par or just generally good. Their volume matters, but not their content. It's pretty easy to spot petulant and fake 1 star reviews, but when there's a bunch of them all complaining about the owners being shady with cancellations, it's harder to discount those. Maybe you should take another look at the industry if you think not disclosing prices on your website or over the phone is an industry standard and isn't a shady thing to do. Lastly, stop embarrassing yourself with these essays. If you think they convince anyone, then I seriously doubt you actually understand what good customer service is.
Great place to workout and very clean and the staff is great , never had a issue and the staff is always available for help if needed
I recently joined but I'm happy with my experience to date. The clients seam to be respectful of each other. Lots of space between machines. I' m still enjoying my time here. Glen is always friendly and helpful. It's cleaned regularly. No line ups for the equipment. Respectful clients. A comfortable place to work out.
Great place to get in there and get the work done. Super accommodating during the Covid-19 pandemic, replaced my card and made double sure that my card would work so I had access 24 hours a day. They have little contests, tons of amenities and lots of programs to join. They certainly want to see their members succeed and it feels like a tight community. Been going back after a hiatus and I'm sorry I took the time off. Glad to be apart of this gym!! Thanks guys for rocking it!
My husband and I just joined a week ago,Staff are friendly and helpful.Clean facility.
Love the facility and how immaculately maintained it always is. Even better Iis the 24 hour option. Was a happy member until all the issues around covid. Ended up a lot of confusion around billing but had the owner take care of it himself. Very much appreciated and I do recommend the facility
