People on here are stupid. There is nothing wrong with this school. Most staff do a great job! Excellent support staff!

Worst school I have ever attended. Who takes attendance for classes anymore? We are adults, I can't believe a teacher threatened to fail me because I missed classes when my grades were fine! What is this elementary school? They don't even have summer classes for BsCN course and don't even get me started on the dorm situation. I attended 2 years out of a 4 year program. I always get a bad taste in my mouth when I think about how poorly the BsCN program is managed from the program coordinator to the instructors. They are very knowledgeable but they do very little to motivate the students and instead of helping you achieve your goals they vilify you if they don't like you; lots of favoritism. One instructor had to nerve to tell me that I will "never get anywhere in life" because I was not attending classes. I learn well on my own and by reading the material as opposed to listening to someone who is basically reading the same thing out of the book and the lecture notes. I ended up dropping out and I went to Sheridan College followed by university. It has been 6 years and I am now a successful teacher, who just finished a graduate degree. One of these days I want to go back to that instructor who said I will never make it and show her my progress, it was very disheartening to get very little support from them. They made me feel stupid and like a failure when it was not true because I went to another school after and graduated with a GPA of 4.0. As an educator now, I realize that student success has a lot to do with the motivation they receive from their teachers. Instead of empowering their students they made me feel like I would get nowhere and I would have not achieved anything had I continued going to SLC. I wonder what those educators who belittled me back then would say to me about my academic achievements now. I know I sound bitter but that is far from it because I made something out of myself and I am only being so honest because I was not the only person who experienced this. Many of my friends dropped out of that college for similar reasons and were extremely dissatisfied. I just want to warn any prospective students or at least, mentally prepare them for a possibility of this happening them. I really hope no one goes through what I experienced. Sorry, but if you want to learn something go somewhere else, the experiences at St.Lawrence. I may be biased since I had a negative experience there but their services are extremely outdated. For example, I needed my transcripts from them and they have no online portal to order your documents! It is 2017 guys come on? I had to fill out a form and fax or scan it to them! Even community colleges like Seneca, Sheridan etc have those services! The dorm situation was bad too. Lots of late night partying, streaking, small acrs of vandalism and lots of illegal drugs being bought and sold there.Once someone threw a football at the fire extinguisher causing it to activate and flooding the 2 and 3rd floors during exam time! It was December too amd we had to be evacuated, standing in the cold. Few of my friends had to bunk with me and in other peoples room for a few days because their mattresses, carpets and furniture were soaked. This college is, for the lack of a better word, ghetto and a lot of their students, at least when I went there were not serious and there just to party. At least, the ones in the dorm... I did not enjoy the environment at all.

Decided that Kingston would be a nice change up from Ottawa. Boy was I ever wrong. I joined a chat group on Facebook for people attending St. Lawrence that were staying in dorms. I thought it would be a great way to get to know new people before even living there. It was indeed a great idea and talked with a lot of new people. After talking about partying I got a message from the dorms running manager that I should not be promoting drinking in the dorms and such. I told her okay thats fine I wouldn't but she shouldn't be reading all our Facebook messages as those are private to students. When I got to the dorms they placed me in the room beside the front desk and security is. The bathroom inside our room was literally right beside sum ones office that we could hear talking all day long. Ever tried to study for a big test when sum ones yelling almost all day? Everyone that I had talked with were on higher floors than us and there was sum very inappropriate things going on but security didn't do anything about them. Just because we were placed right beside security we were always the one getting into trouble. They even took our packs of beer for bringing it in - we were all legal they had no right to do that. I then sat down with the dorm manager and she said I shouldn't be promoting drinking in dorms - if I'm legal I should be allowed to drink no matter. I was not giving it to anyone under age just our friends in dorms that were all legal. The classes were terrible as well - each class was half way around the school each time - walked a marathon each day. Not only that it was like we were in grade 9 again with everything so basic - I came to learn new things! The food was good however. Lasted one semester and then dropped out because the none sense of dorms only received 500$ back in food credit that I had to spend in one day out of the 6k paid. Terrible school that just wants money !

Some teachers are good, others go to fast and it's hard to keep up to pace.
