It's a subway station. Yes, there are escalators, though I did not look for an elevator. It was very cold, as most stations are. It was not in a sketchy part of town, so it feels relatively safe.
It's the intersection where you can switch the trains, east-west-north-south.
St. George Subway Station, especially the Bedford Exit, is one of my favorite stops on the Toronto transit system. Located at 139 St George St, this station is a key hub connecting the Bloor-Danforth and Yonge-University lines, making it incredibly convenient for traveling across the city.nnThe Bedford Exit is particularly well-situated for easy access to nearby landmarks, including the University of Toronto's St. George campus and various museums and cultural sites. It’s a great gateway for students and visitors alike.nnThe station itself is clean, well-maintained, and efficiently organized. The signage is clear, and the staff is always helpful when you need directions or assistance. I also appreciate the ample lighting and security presence, which make it feel safe at all times of the day.nnDuring peak hours, it can get busy, but the flow of passengers is generally managed well, and the station remains navigable. The nearby bus stops and bike lanes add to its accessibility, making it easy to transfer between different modes of transportation.nnOverall, St. George Station’s Bedford Exit is a vital and well-maintained part of the Toronto transit network. Overall TTC service has lost cleanliness it had before. Too many trains are either late or cancelled. Too many closures. It was much better 15 or more years ago. Huge money is poured into TTC but results are worse...
Always nice having alternative exits.
