I came in to be outfitted for a new snowboard etc. The guys working were very helpful and informative. As someone who has worked in retail management in the past - I was impressed how well they worked as a team, making sure to take care of all the customers while completing tasks that they were being called away to perform. This will be my Sportcheck location of choice going forward.

Friendly people but I wish it had been made clear that not all skis/bindings can be worked on. I initially bought new downhill ski boots from Sport Chek and was told I could come back in with my skis to have the boots fitted to them. Great! Yesterday I called to make sure someone would be available to do so, as I know they get busy around this time of year. Again no problem, come on in and we’ll do that. Finally I find time in my busy schedule to bring my gear in and I haul in my skis and new unboxed Sport Chek boots anddddd no they can’t adjust my bindings because they are not certified to adjust my brand of binding. My bindings are dual purpose, I mostly use them as downhill bindings but they have the opportunity to be used as backcountry bindings. Frustrating to say the least, I wish someone had warned me or asked me to check my brand of bindings to save me the trip and hauling my gear all the way into the store.... just FYI call first and tell them your binding brand if you didn’t buy your skis from them.

Terrible bike shop. I brought my bike in twice to this shop. Both times I have had no confidence in the competence of the mechanics at the shop. The first time I wanted something simple - to change my rim tape and my tube. After I brought it in and left it for a full day (because apparently it takes a full day to change a tube...) I went in to pick it up only to be told that the rim tape "didn't seem bad" so they didn't change it. The problem was that a hole in the rim that *that I had found and told them about* was causing my tires to pop. I wasn't called or otherwise informed about this, and the bike mechanic had to re-install everything, surprisingly in only about 5 minutes. I have since taken it in to another bike shop who told me that the tire was installed backwards. Looking at the tire, there is a very clear arrow indicating direction of motion and indeed it has been installed backwards. I am not impressed. The second time was a disaster. I brought my bike in for a full tune, a new chain, and a new headset bearing. I had to tell at least four people that my main priority was the headset bearing, since the handlebars were shaking. However, despite being assured *every single time* that the headset bearing would be the first thing looked at, I had to keep asking if it was changed and it never was. All the other work was done first. The mechanic couldn't get the bottom bracket off of the bike, but again, I wasn't informed about this. I would have appreciated being called, since removal and service of the bottom bracket was part of what I paid for, but this didn't seem to cross anyone's mind. They then changed my chain. The problem there was that once I received the bike back it was skipping terribly and was basically not usable. I took it to a proper bike shop and they told me that the chain was far too long and shouldn't have been installed like that. All of this was underscored by the fact that the staff seemed to have forgotten about my bike for a few days, couldn't find the work order, and then found it in the "done" pile even though none of the work was actually completed. Terrible, terrible bike shop. I will never return.
