Splash Works

Story

Splash Works is a 20acre water park located within the park boundaries of Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. Entry is free with park admission. Splash Works is home to "Whitewater Bay", the largest outdoor wave pool in Canada, and is today home to 16 waterslides. Splash Works operates during the summer months of June through September.HistoryFirst expansion: 1992The water park opened in 1992 with 10acre and it cost the company $6 million CAD. It opened with four combo water slides: Body Blast, Whirl Winds, Pipeline and Drop Zone (later renamed Wipeout). It also included a lazy river and a kids area, Scooby Splash Islands, with some kiddie slides and a wading pool.Second expansion: 1996The year 1996 was the single largest expansion of the water park since its opening in 1992. It saw Splash Works expand to 20acre through an expansion south of the Mighty Canadian Minebuster, so much so, some of the track had to be reconfigured so a bridge could be built over it. It essentially created a south side to the water park. The 1996 expansion saw the creation of White Water Bay, which is still the largest outdoor wavepool in Canada, along with the Black Hole waterslides and Pump House, an interactive spray ground.Third expansion: 1999The year 1999 was the third expansion of Splash Works. It saw the creation of two new slides, Super Soaker and the Plunge. While two separate rides, they share a common loading platform tower. The 1999 expansion also saw another bridge to the south side of Splash Works (behind these two slides). In addition, these two new slides and new bridge cross over Minebuster. The Plunge is a multi-person raft straight down a slide, and the Super Soaker is twisting water slide. They both use the same tube.

Love the whole water park. The slides are fun, the splash pads look like so much fun I want to play! We enjoy the lazy river, too. The wave pool tends to be crazy busy, and the chairs are plentiful but fill up quickly.

I have to give this place two stars. I took my family to Wonderland on 13 Aug 17 specifically to go to Splash Works. This place was beyond packed. There was over a 40-minute wait for every single slide, many were longer. There were no lounge chairs available, or even a pach of grass to spread a towel. The water is ice cold. Change rooms are disgusting and smell like urine. I am a seasons pass holder. I would be livid if I paid full entry to the park only to have this experience. I am questioning if I will get another seasons pass next year. There needs to be a limit on how many people can be let into this attraction at any one time. I'd rather be informed they are at max capacity than go in and only get on two or three slides for the whole day. I will say that I did feel a bit unsafe in the wave pool as there were too many people.

Place is Generally is Nice Positives: (1) They have preferred car parking for $30 instead of regular $22, which is convenient to park close (2) Rides are nice and they have for all ages (3) Staff are nice and professional --------------- Negatives: (1) Water is very COLD (2) Slow Lines (3) Food options are limited and EXPENSIVE (4) Lockers are very expensive ($20 for a regular backpack (5) If you need item such as towels and goggles, they are available, but expensive (6) Seating areas are full Overall it is a good experience and I recommend it only once a year.
