Story

For years, Jeeps and ATV trails have often been spread far and wide apart from each other due to the width of the trails, terrain, or sharp turns that the respective other cannot make. That is, until Ray said enough. With the support of multiple associations, communities and hobbyiests alike, the South Wind Motel set out on a quest to give everyone the chance to try a new trail system. A Universal System.

We promise you'll love the trails as much as we do, and see just how much care went into every step of the different routes. Tested by all staff and crew, and regularly worked on, these trails really are a site to see and challenge to beat. Whether you're interested in forest terrain, muddy waters or sudden drops that make your heart skip a beat in excitement, we're sure you'll find the perfect trail for your tastes.

Excellent campground. Clean, great atmosphere and super friendly. Ray is the best! He is an outgoing hard-working individual who absolutely loves what he does which makes this campground more than just a campground! It's a place to go visit like you would family and friends. Ray is always there to greet us with a smile and loves telling us about everything that he has been working on. He likes to keep us all informed on changes both completed and upcoming. Its great! The trails he has up there for everyone to use are amazing! The amount of back breaking labour that went in to making them and keeping them maintained is extensive! So much fun! Congratulations Ray you have made something that no one else has! A place that doesn't just feel like a business out to make money......it's so much more than that. Everyone in our group looks forward to going there and loves every minute! Thank-you!!!

I come to South Wind a few times per year and Ray is always improving the place and trying to make it better for the people who stay there. I haven't been in the motel but the rest of the property is well taken care of and kept as clean as it can be with its purpose. The trails he has created in the back of the property are awesome and open all year round, great for all the 4x4 junkies. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking to be up in minden for a few days.

We stayed recently because we couldn’t access our winter cottage nearby. Very friendly service, fair prices, and our room was in excellent condition. We rented a room with a kitchenette, which was stocked fully and thoughtfully.

If you are looking for a great place to ride and aren't fussy about the rooms, this place is great. Geared towards Off Road enthusiasts, has on site jeep and ATV trails and links directly the HATV trail network. Ray even provides a pressure washer to wash the mud off, if needed. The rooms are dated and small, but relatively clean. Fridge and microwave in each room.  The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the room was decently quiet. Not the Ritz, but was more about the ride anyways.
