My elderly father-in-law is in the Oliver Hospital. The staff basically ignore him. They leave him dirty and unattended. With one or two exceptions, the nurses on staff show no interest in his condition. They make no effort to help him and treat him like he doesn't matter. He receives no personal care. The lack of dignity and respect shown to him actually makes his condition worse. On top of that, the administration is offering no help or guidance to improve his situation. He receives no cleaning or even simple things like brushing his teeth - after a week in the hospital. Very painful for the family to have to watch. Reading reviews online shows that this is normal at this hospital and the administration has made no steps to remedy the situation.
Me and brother went to hospital a few days ago because of emergency… the old lady I didn’t get her name around 60s is so discriminate . We gave her address to update she was very very very rude with us without any reason . Then suddenly a white person came and she starts laughing with jokes with him . These kinds of discrimination on basis of colour and caste going on since past , i dont think it will stop ever . I hope she will not do with anybody else .
If I could have 6 stars I would us them. Fast! Wow... Not like one of the big city hospitals. Friendly . Lots of parking and it is free too.
I went for my appointment for an Xray, arriving early. All the staff were so kind. They remembered that I had to take the BC Transit bus there and they took me right away. Jasmine my technician was knowledgeable, kind and friendly. A great experience. Thank you to everyone for your great service.
Attended Oliver Hospital ER recently by ambulance with a medical emergency. Sadly the staff on duty were completely lacking in triage skills and behaved with a callous indifference to my care. There was a two hour wait to see the only doctor. The ER are appeared quite and only one other patient in sight. Fortunately my wife drove me to Pentiction Hosital where I was triaged and immediately seen by friendly and efficient staff within minutes including the ER doctor. A surgical procedure was performed with complete relief of my presentation. The nursing staff at Oliver failed in their basic role in showing compassion and in their failure to recognize a medical emergency. Suggest if you have a genuine medical emergency , avoid this hospital.
Super thankful to the amazing team in the Acute Care section of the hospital. Going over and above to keep my family comfortable during their stay while also lending an ear to me as I needed to talk about how tough the last month has been. An alarm goes off and they are quick to answer; watched an elderly gentleman just sitting around in his chair and one of the nurses approached him and struck up a conversation. Very compassionate group there. Wish I could remember all of their names but a big thank you to Silkie, Jaret, and Melissa and the 2 other nurses whose names I can't remember for singing me a happy belated birthday.
I visited emergency at the South Okanagan hospital twice - recently - to discover that I had pneumonia. The staff there were amazing: friendly, personable and quick to diagnose the issue. They had me checked out and hooked up so quickly. X-rays were taken, blood test, ECG, etc. - medication was prescribed, advise given. I was so impressed.
I am shocked and disgusted with treatment suggestions we received Monday night from an ER doctor for my 12 year old daughter. We went to the hospital because of an ankle injury at the urging of our GP’s office. After waiting a couple hours to be seen, which is to be expected, a young doctor prescribed Voltaren and Advil. Knowing nothing about the Emulgel, we went home and followed his instructions. 4 days later a friend advised what Voltaren really is and compared it to Cortisone. I immediately read up on the same and instructions explicitly state ‘not to be used on children under the age of 18’ and ‘never to be combined with an ibuprofen’. Seriously??! I am aware due to demographics that Oliver Hospital is more geriatric than paediatric care but this is insane at the detriment of my child’s health and well being.
Dr. And nurses were excellent with my mom. Very professional, but friendly also
Friendly helpful staff. My husband has been in the emergency room twice in the last 6 weeks. Staff was excellent keeping us informed on what was going on at all times. Lots of free parking. Easy access.
