South Fork Public House

South Fork Public House was absolutely packed when I stopped in for lunch on a rainy weekday in Pullman. I ended up grabbing a seat at the bar, which honestly turned out to be the best place to sit anyway.nnEven with the place full, the noise level stayed surprisingly mellow. It felt more like a relaxed professor crowd than a loud sports bar crowd. I remember looking around thinking half the room probably taught classes somewhere five minutes away.nnAs the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series, I tend to notice places with strong atmosphere and personality pretty quickly, and South Fork definitely has its own feel compared to a generic chain restaurant.nnThe pulled pork sandwich was huge. One of those sandwiches where halfway through you realize there was never any realistic chance of eating it neatly. Big portions, strong flavor, and honestly pretty solid value for what showed up on the plate.nnThe bar itself stands out too with this crinkled copper-style top that gives the room some character. Between that, the artwork, the drink boards, and the beer selection, the whole place feels comfortable without trying too hard to manufacture “craft pub” energy.nnThere are TVs around for sports, and there’s a larger back room that looked set up for events or game days, though during my visit most of the activity centered around the main bar area.nnThe staff was super friendly and handled the crowd really well even during the lunch rush.nnFunny enough, while working later on the Maui Desire Romance Series, I realized restaurants with this kind of warm rainy-day atmosphere sneak into scenes pretty naturally.nnReally enjoyable spot in Pullman with strong food, a good bar setup, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned.

South Fork has friendly, helpful and attentive servers. They have generous portions and a very relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed our visit, were happy with the food and will be back. Nice job team South Fork.

It is a bar that serves food. Good, food, not great. Ordered the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. Bacon was crispy, but the jalapeños were very raw and crunchy. Didnt care for that. Flavor was good though. We also ordered the fish and Chips. Fish was crispy and good tasting. It was just the thinnest piece of fish I've eaten in a while. The shoe string fries were flavored well.

One of my favorite places on the Palouse! Southfork’s staff is always friendly and accommodating. Their food and ambiance is stellar! Plenty of seating! Summers are pleasant with their outdoor seating in the back! Quick service! I crave their breadsticks and lettuce wraps almost daily! Cougar Gold Mac and Cheese is always top notch! I don’t drink, but their local drinks on tap and cocktails are always a hit with my coworkers!

Definitely recommend. Food was great, beer was ICE COLD! Service was friendly. Looking forward to visiting again.
