Story

Basically, a sofra is a square or rectangular shaped KILIM rug.
These colourful and flat tapestry rugs have been woven for thousands of years in and around Turkey and have served multi purpose roles around the house.

They were and still are often used for picnic outings with family and friends, but they’re also currently used in village homes, where people often sit on their floors and enjoy their meals. Of course, today KILIM rugs are more versatile and more typically used as decorative floor coverings and wall hangings.

The word Sofra itself comes from an ancient Arabic word, meaning dinner table, picnic or KILIM. It is also a synonym for generosity and hospitality.

Always fresh and tasty food, its been consistent over the years. I tried many of their dishes: shawarma, schnitzel , lamb and fish all so delicious. They have so many types of dips and salads, really good ones! The staff is friendly and helpful every time I been there, I really like Sofra! Definitely recommending this Restaurant.

Not a fan of this place. Ordered the lamb kabob dinner with rice and house salad over the phone. The person taking the order seemed very rushed and impatient as well. When delivered, the house salad was pretty good I guess, but my onions still had root on it. The lamb came to me very done and dry (even after saying medium-rare when they asked???). The rice was seriously undercooked, so... dry lamb and hard rice? I'll pass. It was 20 bucks and I barely ate so I won't be back.

I enjoy this middle eastern cousin joint. They are really busy which means they are good. food is usually good and fresh. Not like in Israel but nothing will be like that. I'd still recommend.

My salad had a long black hair in it. All I can say is this will be the last time I order takeout from here. So disgusting.

I heard lots of good things about that place in the past, only to get disappointed from the poor visual picture I will never be able erase from my mind. A lady with a short haircut named Oxana or oksana (not sure), with a dark hair who I believe part of the kitchen stuff at that joint, picks up different stuff from the floor (garbage, receipts, spoon that fell off) and doesn't wash her hands later. When I confronted her gently while I noticed that on my ay to the washroom and while mistakenly entered the wrong area: "excuse me mam, do you wash your hands when serving food at your house? if so...so why don't you do the same at your work place". She just giggled and gave me a very dirty look. Frankly, I will never be back there ever again. What happen to common courtesy of being nice and possessing good hygiene? What happen to being a polite Canadian? Very disappointed
