Guys this is not even 1% exaggeration. If you are a meat lover sorry vegans this place is ridiculously good. The meat just falls off the bone because it’s slow cooked to perfection. Even the sides were amazing. First time I have had Texas barbecue. Definitely coming back for more.
One of the best briskets I've eaten! So tender, tasty & traditional. You've done a great job & I feel almost embarrassed to admit this London restaurant is better than some of those I've tried in a few States in America. Well done! It must be the English Oak you use to smoke em! ;
Tried out Texas Joe after going on Google to find a smokehouse in London. Loved the ambience, really brings you to Texas like in the movies!. The short rib was DELICIOUS and the portion was big for one. My husband loved it and devoured about 80% of it before admitting defeat. The chicken taco was so well balanced in flavour that it left me wanting more. Frito pie and cornbread as sides were exactly what we need to compliment the mains. Cocktails were delicious and pretty as well. All in all, a great experience! Will definitely be back to try dessert in the future as was stuffed this time!
What a great place to have a perfect Texan barbecue dinner!! I had no idea about this place until it was recommended to me by a Texan and I decided to try! Everything was so delicious, my mouth is watery if I think about it again! I tried the brisket place and Mac&cheese.. the meat literally melts in your mouth... It's incredible!!! Mac&cheese was very good as well! We also had the pleasure to meet the owner, Joe, while having dinner and it was nice to have a chat with him : I can absolutely recommend this!!! 5+ stars!!
The food is very good, however the menu doesn't describe the food well enough for people new to texas BBQ meats. We felt like we had to ask the staff if we wanted anything even though we tried to make it as obvious as possible that we're waiting. I'll say it again the though, the food is incredible. I just think the staff could be a bit more attentive and the food could be better described. I've attached a photo of the beef short rib I had.
Food was really underwhelming after seeing the reviews. Pork ribs, mutton shoulder and brisket lacked smoke time. Mutton shoulder was too dry and pork ribs not fall off the bone as it should be. Brisket was not too bad I guess. The tables in the bar area are flimsy and move constantly whilst eating your food. Corn bread was probably the worst thing I've tried. Blues kitchen delivers double the quality for the same price
Just order beef brisket and skip the others I visited this place two years ago and was impressed by the strong smoky flavor. But this second visit, along with many friends based on my recommendation, brought nothing impressive but mediocre. Ribs are dry. Mutton is too salty. Tacos are average. Cornbread is just ripped of humidity. The brisket is still the best and it remains as one good thing worth of visiting. Edit: the owner later explained to me the dry rubs they use would not generate saucy meat as in other shops.
What a surprise. Everything was amazing. The brisket was so juicy and tender. Best I ever had. Mac and cheese was a great addition to mix with the short rib which fell quickly off the bone. Will definitely come back !
The mutton shoulder & beef ribs I enjoyed. Wings weren't smoked/cooked enough. Cocktail was great. Porks ribs abit lacking, in seasonings & seemed trashy and dry. Meats were served lukewarm, slaw &pickle could do with improvements. Everything could do with just a tad bit more salt and pepper. I would recommend mutton shoulder & beef ribs. Fries tasted fantastic,hot,crispy and fluffy, very well seasoned. Bill was just under £90 including drinks.
This place is a great place to go if you are not a big eater but want some high quality American BBQ. Honestly, we ordered the pork shoulder, brisket and short rib and they literally gave three strips for the brisket. Don't get me wrong, this place is so quality but the problem is how pricey it is for what you get. We got the food above, 1 beer, 2 zero cokes and 2 chips for a total of 85 pounds. For three people that is a ridiculous amount of money to be spending albeit it being in central london. Again, the food is extraordinary, the meat can be torn off the bone with your fork but it really is not worth the amount of money that they charge. Not to mention they don't take cash any more.
