Were do I start....first let me say our waitress was great....the chef on the other hand....yikes. we went because the menu looked good. When we arrived we were the only ones there. My fiance and I ordered some appetizers to start. Came out quick which was great because we were starving. Order the calamari and the BBQ prosciutto prawns. Calamari was good, dipping sauce that came with was not. The prawns were a mess....prosciutto was just layed on top of the prawns and then BBQ sauce poured right on top. Things went real South when the food came out.....you can just look at the pictures to see what kind of crazy mess came out....my chicken sandwich was burnt and dry...whatever I was hungry so I ate it. My fiance's meal on the other hand....so here burger was supposed to have BBQ sauce and special sauce and crispy onion straws. When she got it, it had no BBQ sauce, no crispy fried onions and no special sauce. She mentioned it to the waitress who apologized and took it to the chef....he argued with the waitress about what was on it....she had to show him...THE CHEF..what was supposed to be on it. What's he do.....squirts a blot of BBQ sauce on it and throws some grilled onions on it and sends it back. My fiance tells the waitress these are grilled....the chef said they don't have crispy fried onions....my fiance loves her burgers and the only reason she ordered it was for the crispy onions and sauce. So at this point she's not happy and asks for a box as she was not in the mood to eat after all this. The waitress was very nice and even took the burger off out tab. It just blew me a away that the chef didn't know what was on a sandwich and how everything came out....it wasn't busy, we were the only ones there....so the view was great though lol. Just make sure you check that they have everything if you are going there for a specific reason or item so you aren't disappointed.
The restuarant itself was not bad but I wouldn't go back. I had the fish taco and there wàs nothing particularly novel about them. The description on the menu was the selling point but when they dish came out it was just sub-par. They were almost to complicated and became less about the fish and more about the fire roasted sweet corn, avocado mousse, and hand made slaw. The other people which I was dining with felt the same way re: their dishes. With the exception of two, the West Coast Benny was a hit and so was one of the burgers. Go to try it but I think there are places which just serve better food. The price points on a few items were quite good and others were a bit high. $18 for an eggs breakfast? Dennys would serve you the same thing for maybe $12.
Beautiful views, lovely service and good food with a great selection of gluten free options. They were very conscious of our allergies and we had no gluten reactions afterward. Our only complaint was that it was freezing in there, but they brought us all blankets and turned off the air conditioning when we asked them about it. Looking forward to going back.
Beautiful view! We went midday on a holiday Monday, which I think helped us avoid the typical mealtime rushes it would usually get. Food was good, service was friendly.
Food here is delicious. Great atmosphere and positive staff. A lot of care and attention is put onto plate and it shows. I recommend this place to anyone looking for good food with a great view!
Great location and awesome food. Plus the friendly staff made our evening. Listened to Nanaimo guitarist Dave Hart. Exceptional range of musical styles.
Fantastic view, great service. The food is 1 star above mediocre. The blackened tuna was obviously frozen and tough. We sent it back. The seafood bake was good but contained 4 prawns, 2 small scallops and a small portion of fish. It needs more protein. The artichoke dip was good, but is served with not enough pita bread to finish the dip. We were charged another $5.00 to get enough bread to finish the dip. This place has a lot of potential, but these food details need to be addressed. It could be a 5 star rating once the food issues are dealt with.
I saw an awesome blues band here! Great music and dancing! And our waiter was super handsome and charming!
We stopped in for some desert. Took quite a few minutes for someone to come up front to seat us or tell us to seat ourselves. Nice deck outside seating, good service when we got it, some good local beverages and live music. Casual environment with a nice bay view. Desert was not tasty at all. The cheesecake was a no bake, not a real one and the custard in the trifle was super hard and rubbery. We didn’t eat the food, but the menu looked good.
The live band playing on Saturday night that I was here was incredible - I loved seeing the older crowd really have fun and dance to the music. I ordered a medium rare steak which is really my fault because we're in the island and should've stuck to seafood and it was reaaally hard to cut with a knife and chew. The meat was super tough. I thought it was pricey for that quality food. Friendly service though. Also, we enjoyed the sunset ambience during dinner.
