I had a gift card for Kalvas for $50 so I decided to give it a try. It’s not the style of restaurant I usually eat at. I had take out but the ambiance inside was very aesthetically pleasing! I ordered the seafood pasta, it came with a little garlic bread piece. The food was ok, nothing to brag about but not bad either. Good tasting scallops!
What a lovely restaurant to have a solo meal for an out-of-town visitor. House baked focaccia bread with a balsamic dip to start. The filet mignon was was cooked to perfection and the sauce was sublime. The topper was in-house made Tiramisu! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I’ll be back.
Would give 3.5 if possible. Wonderful log cabin building with lots of character. Have been going here occasionally for 30ish years and it's "not like it used to be". Food was good, but not $40 entree good. Appy of Prawns and Scallops were excellent but short on both we shared the 2 served. The veal schnitzel was above average but the spaetzle looked bad and was overly salty. Servers were not knowledgeable on the wine list. We originally ordered a 2018 Burrowing Owl Meritage, a limited menu item, only to be brought a 2019 and advised they never had a 2018. They were out of the Blue Mountain Pinot Noir and we were happy with the Oysoyoos Larose we eventually settled on. Decent prices on the wines though. Overall a good experience and much better than the nearby Bayside Resort.
Went here for the first time with my husband and mother-in-law. Hanna was our server and she gave us an exceptional service! We had some oyster, the steak special and some cheesecake. The steak I hope have the sauce on side so we can just dip the pudding in it. Aside from that, everything was great! Highly recommend to phone them to get the best sit in the house specially if you are celebrating a special occasion! Overall, we had great experience! :
Top quality food during our getaway. We ordered the Salmon and NY Striploin & Prawns for dinner. The Salmon was well cooked moist!! With the pilaf and creamed leeks being perfectly seasoned. Steak was done exactly as ordered with medium, and prawns were not overdone. Highly recommend, but also make sure to make a reservation as they're always busy and wait times can be long.
What a great place! We have a large group in town for a conference staying at a nearby hotel. We ended up going to the log house because the restaurant in our hotel was booked up, and I'm am I ever glad we did! As soon as we arrived we were told that they were short-staffed and they have trouble accommodating us but after about 5 minutes of organizing they sat our group of eight down. But the food. The food. I can't believe how good it was. I myself had the panko crested halibut and it was amazing. Some other diners in our group got the steak and prawns and it was the best looking steak and prawns I had ever seen in my life. The diners also said they were incredible. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. A great atmosphere. I would head back here in a heartbeat. Vegetarian options: Zero vegan options. Everything has butter. They did accommodate but our vegan guest left.
Amazing experience! We were able to get a last minute reservation for 2. Professional greeting and staff. Waitress refilled drinks and food was amazing. Steak was cooked perfectly and seafood was fresh. Well seasoned everything. The balsamic/olive oil reduction with the fresh bread is out of this world. Price was super reasonable, much more affordable than a place like the keg and also way better quality. My only regret is I did not leave a bigger tip. Easy 5/5 and would travel up from victoria again, just for this food.
Recently went here for a birthday dinner and we were very impressed! I had lobster tail, hubby had steak...both were cooked to perfection and the veggies weren't the tired old carrots and green beans! Caesar Salad was so good...that's often my test! Good wine list that wasn't outrageous in price. Great service, great atmosphere - we'll be sure to send folks your way!
Excellent all around experience for my 1st time there. Hank looked after us and saw to our every need, providing swift service without seeming rushed. To start our meal, the bread was made to perfection. The beef was superb along with the lamb. The salmon was moist and flavourful. The pasta was cheesy and gooey. The desserts were the perfect ending as all were made in house. I’ll most certainly be back. Exceptional evening all around. Perfection. Kid-friendliness: Very attentive to my grandson whose ten Parking: Excellent parking
Visiting from the lower mainland for my birthday. We really enjoyed our time here. The food was fresh and tasty. Despite being busy we didn't have to wait too long between courses. Our waitress and wait staff were great. We had taken a taxi and were waiting for our pick up outside when a staff offered to take us if we hadn't got our ride when he came back from his errand. The offer was nice but our cab was there two minutes later. We will definitely come back next time we're in Parksville, but come for Prime Rib Friday.
