Food was good, servings size a little small. When we arrived it took us, my son and I a little while to decide if we were going to stay. We ordered our food, it took a while for it to be prepared.. My son who lives in the area, acts like he'll come back. He'd never eaten Indian food before, he ordered the butter chicken mild. I ordered the chicken curry medium spice. It certainly wasn't overly spicy. They have some pictures and atmosphere items on the walls.
I was visiting Ogden and had a strong desire to get some Indian food. I’ve eaten at Sitara before, but it’s been probably 10 years. The food did not disappoint. It was fantastic! Very delicious and good quantities. We got Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken with garlic naan, and garlic cheese naan. I liked the Tikka Masala more than the butter, but my wife was opposite! I also wanted it spicier, but she said the medium was already too spicy for her. The thing I didn’t like, and the reason for 3 stars… I placed my order online at 4:45 PM, selecting 5:30 as my pick up time the first available was 5:20 but I knew I couldn’t make it there by then. I arrived at 5:35, the worker that helped me took my name, went to the kitchen, was gone for a bit, came back and asked my name again, and went and washed tables. At 5:45 he came back to me and said they were finishing my naan. I finally received my food at 5:58. I was offered a beverage because of how long it was taking. I declined because I’d didn’t feel like that made up for wasting 25 minutes of my time. Because I ordered online, I also had to select a tip amount at payment time while ordering. Had I known that it was going to take 28 minutes longer than what I requested, I wouldn’t have tipped 15%. I’d probably try another Indian restaurant before I returned.
My feeling is that this restaurant is serves some of the best Indian Food north of Salt Lake. Really good customer service and delicious, authentic South Indian food. For people new to Indian food, I would suggest the Chicken tikka masala. My favorites are the biriyanis and fish curry. EDIT: 9/23/2022 I came across a review of this restaurant from a week ago that blew my mind and although this is not a forum for refuting reviews, I did not take to it and wanted to really clarify. I have been a customer of this restaurant for over 15 years so I know all the positives and negatives. The reviewer stated "This is a frozen Indian food has nothing to do with the taste or look, lots of sauce with perfect cube cut chicken thought was something else and probably is it’s a shame they make this kind of Indian food even the bread I guarantee you it’s frozen. Never again waist of money" This restaurant does not deal with frozen food. The kitchen staff have been with the restaurant for many years and they guy that cuts the chicken has done it so many times that he has become a pro at it. That is why the pieces are even for the most part. I mean to use that to assume that it is frozen???? Also the reviewer does not explain anything about the taste of the food but considers dining here a waste of money because of a conjecture that the food is frozen? Anyway I was permitted to step into the kitchen by the owners and chef to take some pictures of some food preparation. I just want to be clear, there is no frozen food here. Call me biased for being a long time customer here but that is what I am..........a very satisfied customer and I always keep coming back. The pictures below show preparation of Makni Sauce, The paneer white bag, being strained and prepared it is a multi process preparation, and tandoori chicken. Please come in and try for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
Amazing flavor! Got the lamb tikka masala and my dad got the lamb coconut ; some naan and basmati rice ; was exactly what I was looking for; worth the drive from Layton
Me and my husband used to go here often, but it seems like over the past year the quality gets worse and worse. I’m not one to leave bad reviews because I am pretty understanding, even when waiting two hours for our food before. But today was the last straw, when they forgot part of our order and said they couldn’t refund it. I feel like that is crazy for a business to not correct their mistake like that.
Great place for Indian food. I got paneer tikki masala and it actually had a good amount of paneer cheese in it compared to other Indian restaurants around. Their spicy scale is pretty balanced. Interesting naan bread flavor
Today at 3 pm 26 Oct. I’m a door dasher with excellent ratings, because I care about my customers. I walked in to pick up a order and was treated by your staff employee disrespectful very rudely. No employees was on the floor so I requested help from the back counter. Your employee stormed out of the kitchen and said I’m early and door dash order will not be ready for an hour, I challenged and showed him my pick up time was at 3:22 pm he didn’t like my reply and told me I was rude which I clearly wasn’t I just said 1 hour wait was not normal. He told me to leave so I did and reported it to door dash. I’ve been in public service for many years and this type of treatment to customers is not called for and your employees attitude reflects a lot on your restaurant’s success…. I will never pick up and deliver another order from your restaurant and hopefully you as the owner will correct your staff professionalism in the restaurant business because no customer never ever wants to be treated like that.
Best Indian food in a 20 mile radius. I've eaten at other Indian restaurants in the area and I believe they cater to the Utah pallette, but as a non native I found sitara to stand out. We crave this place after being recommended by other transplants. Don't sleep on this strip mall restaurant.Food: 5/5
I got the chicken Tikka masala, which was pretty good! The garlic naan is also definitely worth the extra dollar. Good food all around It's basically just a large room with some tables thrown in there, so it doesn't feel very private at all. The food took quite a while to come out, but not ridiculously long for Indian food. Just be prepared to wait a long time, especially if it's busy.
Satara is one of favorite Indian restaurants in Utah. We eat there often. The food is very good, with some dishes amazing. And the prices are low given the quality and taste. Highly recommend.
