This was a lovely walk along the river and through some mixed wooded areas. Even though it’s was minus -30 we couldn’t feel the wind which made our walk more enjoyable. It’s a well maintained and quiet trail that’s also the perfect distance. It would be perfect for cross country skiing or snow shoeing as well. I cannot wait to return in the spring and summer and see the area then.
Great casual trail to take your dogon leash
I found this more of a boring trail. The paths aren't that well marked and it's easy to get lost. Looking out into the water was a little depressing. I do agree with other reviewers that it is an easy trail, quite level, not many water-logged paths. Probably better to do in the spring, summer, or fall than winter.
A lovely trail to walk on with your family. From what I've seen all the paths are flat and you're not constantly looking down at your feet as you walk in fear you might trip. We were able to feed a few birds here and there too.
Nice walk in the woods with some nice river views. Some areas of the trail had gravel but some areas quite muddy.
A wonderful place in the heart of Kanata to walk around and see mallards and American black ducks, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets and Night Crowned night Herons. Wildlife like raccoons, white tailed deer rabbits, muskrats and coyotes.to name a few. Best times to walk around are early morningsThis pathway leads to the watts creek pathway. The pathway is primarily used as a cycling and running trail in the spring summer and fall, and a skiing and fat biking trail in the winter.Love this whole area lots of deer and wildlife and of course beautiful birds. There is a unpaved parking area which is gravel covered. It can get muddy at times so make sure you wear appropriate footwear. The parking area borders people’s homes so be mindful of that when parking. Once on the watts creek pathway you can go either left or right. The right direction will take you through some beautiful areas where you can see lots of birds and deer and other wildlife and eventually come out to Corkstown road. The left direction will lead you past some Amazing Green-space where you can seen lots of birds. It will also lead you past the Wesley clover horse park - the back of it. The path will lead you out to the beginning of Corkstown road and Moodie drive. There is also limited parking available here. If you love wildlife this pathway is a must you will Not be disappointed. Best times for visiting are early mornings when at sunrise.
I visited spring April 2022. The tree leaves weren't out yet but there were interesting song birds, frogs singing and a small marsh area. I found the brush areas with dead branches covered in moss interesting. There were a few areas where the trail was muddy but easy if you have rain boots. I think later on in the spring it will be much more interesting. The facilities- good parking, a new and very nicely maintained outdoor drop toilet. Missing - there are no benches or other places to sit along the trail Accessibility - I can't remember if the toilet design had a ramp into the washroom, but the inside is accessible. From my perspective the trails are flat, wide and when not muddy would be wheelchair, scooter or walker friendly. The marsh area has a wooden walkway. However there aren't any benches or big rocks etc.. to rest on, perhaps bring a light weight camp chair if you might need a rest. Dogs - dog are only allow during certain parts of the year check first. Our pup loved the trails and met a few new dog friends, all friendly and on leash, and everyone seemed to poop and scoop.
Good walking trail, just keep in mind of the weather, it can greatly impact the maintenance of the paths and if there is lots of water it can flood some of the sections near the river
Great walking trail with mixture of sun and shade. Beach is lovely.
A nice little loop. The signs could be made a wee bit clearer but not a lot of traffic going through, a spot for kids and dogs to enjoy a little dip. Overall, not very scenic but great for social distancing ;.
