Founded by Howard E. Shaw in 1895, Shaw's General Store has been family owned and operated for the last 120 years. Located in the scenic historic village of Stowe, Vermont, Shaw's represents not only a store that has evolved with the times, but one that has earned its way into the hearts of both locals and travelers by providing a first hand feel of true Vermont hospitality.

Shaw’s General Store is the perfect blend of nostalgia and practicality. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with the warm atmosphere of an old-fashioned general store combined with a modern twist. Their selection of outdoor gear and clothing is top-notch, and I was thrilled to find brands like Pendleton and Patagonia alongside unique Vermont souvenirs. I also loved their collection of rustic home goods and gifts—it’s the kind of place where you can find something for everyone. The staff were friendly, offering recommendations and sharing the store’s rich history. I left with a cozy fleece jacket and some adorable maple syrup-themed gifts for my family. This store is a treasure in downtown Stowe and a must-visit for anyone in the area
This place had a lot of interesting souvenirs to peruse including maple syrup items, magnets, postcards, clothing and more. When I came back in I learned the difference between maple syrup and that was so interesting! The staff were nice and friendly! The prices were reasonable considering the destination. I definitely left with a few gifts to take back home!
Awesome general store with tons of goods! They have all sorts of souvenirs and goodies for sale!
This place was recommended as a historical general store, but it's really just a touristy gift shop. The atmosphere is nice and the staff were very friendly--that was the best part.nMost of the items felt generic and overpriced. I was hoping for more local or unique products, but nothing stood out.nIt's fine for a quick browse, but if you're looking to shop, there are better spots nearby.
The staff are extremely helpful and kind. While the store does have a ramp to enter the staff are able to get a ramp for a small power chair. The store has some excellent goodies and able to enjoy what Stowe has to offer.
