Story

In 1921 Mr. Earl Shaw and Mr. Winfield H.Boehler purchased a wholesale business from Dobbs and Son. Over the years the decision was made to begin selling flowers retail as well as continuing the sale of bulbs and plants wholesale. Forever friends, Mr. Shaw went to Cortland, NY and opened a second location. Since then that location has changed ownership, they kept the name but have dropped the affiliation. Born into the family business, Winfield C. Boehler worked with his father his entire life.

A Cornell man with a degree in Engineering as well as Horticulture, “Win” made many upgrades and changes to the business while raising his own family, including the addition of the front showroom. After the passing of his father in 1970, Win took full ownership and responsibility of S&B.

In 1983 Win married Carolyn Dahl Siracusa, an employee and friend for 25 years. One of Carolyn’s two children, Tina, showed great interest in the business and Carolyn taught her the art of floral designing.

In January of 2015 Win passed away just shy of his 90th birthday, and the family business has been passed on to a new Generation. Carolyn Boehler still owns the business, with it being managed by Tina, who found her passion in floral design and the family business. The two run the business side by side, seamlessly blending old school values with new school flavor. Catering to both tradition and modern influences, Carolyn and Tina work to create artistic floral creations, unique to each request.
Their goal is to make every moment a special moment to be remembered and as they celebrate their 95 year in business, Tina and Carolyn anticipate making many more special moments for years to come.
