This image is much more interpretive than the bulk of Johnson's work from earlier decades. Rather than try to faithfully represent everything that was present, later works would let one feature dominate the whole image. He often gave beautiful renderings of foliage, but here everything that is earthbound is humbled by the majesty of the sky.

Great place to relax and unwind. There are two parking areas; one on top of the hill (800 feet) and one at the bottom. If you want a not-so-extreme hike, start at the top and walk around Lousia Pond. For more of a hike/climb, start at the bottom parking lot. There is a 40 foot waterfall on the Purple Trail. At the top is a beautiful view of the Hudson River and the valley around it. Open from dawn to dusk all year. Great place!
