Minnewaska State Park Preserve

I am impressed by how well maintained this park is. The carriage road trails are wide with compacted gravel, and very easy to walk on. The foot paths are more exciting requireing large boulder hopping and river crossings. The blazes are well marked, and there are maps everywhere to help guide you around the trails. The trails vary in distances so you can hike for as long or as little as you would like!

Great park. A lot of trails for all levels. Incredible vistas. Beautiful lakes and rocks. Amazing fall scenery of valleys below the ridge and Catskills around. You can hike, bike, walk with a stroller, or just picnic there. And apparently you can do scuba diving there (I had no idea until saw signs yesterday).

This is one of my favorite state parks. A good 2.5 hour drive for me but I always feel like it's a mini getaway to nature. I had not been back for a few years after my daughter was born and we finally took her this past summer to see the waterfall (A little dry during our visit but she was still impressed). It was a lot more crowded than I remember it being in the past but still a lovely visit. Great trails for endless hiking and biking with some fantastic views. In the summer you can even swim in the lakes. Hope to come back more often as my daughter gets older and easier to travel with!

Best hiking ever. Walked around the lake with my husband, 62, and his two cousins 80 +. The weather was icy cold and crazy windy but refreshing. Beautiful views. We all loved it.

Went there on Friday, 11/03/17, accidentally dropped my wallet there. A truly beautiful soul found it and returned to the ranger. I traveled 100 miles in order to get here, it would be a different story if that person did not return my wallet. I am really appreciated for the beautiful views at the Minnewaska State Park Preserve and the beautiful people here.
