Having been decades since I dined at a Sharis, and on somewhat of an impulse, we decided to stop and ordered a french dip like plate and spouse had a hot turkey sandwich.
Upon receiving our orders and tasting the food, it all came back to me why I quit patronizing Sharis decades previous.
The portions were small and meager. The flavors were institutional( I' ve recently dined at St Charles Hospital in Bend at their cafe, and the food was not bad at all ( except for the overcooked rubbery veges)
Hungry? If you have a choice of going to Safeway and getting a Marie Calander entre or sitting down at Sharis on the north end of Bend, wait a few minutes longer, shop at Safeway, and get a far better meal than the puny, tasteless slop at Shari's( over $30 plus tip)
Patronize small locally owned places, or pick another chain restaurant that cares about what they serve and in turn cares about their clients and whether the ever touch their door again.

So...when I went out to dinner last night, I ordered Chicken Alfredo pasta. It arrived looking very dry and I asked if I could have a side of Alfredo sauce.
The waitress took my plate back...but returned shortly saying the chef said "no, the Alfredo sauce is "portioned." I told her I always order a side of sauce as it's usually dry...please ask again. She went back again and asked the chef and the night supervisor. Again, I was told no...the sauce is "portioned."
I said that was ridiculous...I always ordered and got a side of sauce. I offered to pay for it. No...it's "portioned." The new owner doesn't allow it.
"Portioned?" What the heck does that even mean?? LOL :D Has anyone ever been told you can't have an extra side of something at a restaurant? Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
Our experience here has always been very good...and our waitress last night was most accommodating, but the new owner needs to get with the program...and allow customers to order a "side" if they desire.
I won't be ordering the Chicken Alfredo Pasta again.

Shari's restaurants are a choice I make as I travel because they are consistent in quality of food and service. This one was no different. Our waitress was friendly, courteous and quick I send our needs whether it be refilling drinks or taking our order.
The one thing they might be a variable is the cook who can make or destroy a dish, the cook here was very good, not over cooking dishes server and serving them hit.

Frankly - the food, the service and coffee is terrible. Its obvious with the chincy portions being served - right down to hashbrown - that corners are being cut to either salvage mismanagement - or just be flat out cheap. I've eaten here for years - I've been here enough to know ... Not wasting our hard earned money here anymore. Pretty bad when McDonald's looks good.
