Story

Scribner's Catskill Lodge reopened following an extensive renovation for a new generation of urban explorers. With thoughtful design, friendly service, and delicious food and drinks, the lodge is the perfect basecamp for your weekend adventures.

In addition to our 38 guest rooms and suites, we offer a locally-inspired restaurant, Prospect, multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces, and over 20 acres of mountainside to explore.

Today’s Scribner’s brings key players of the Catskills and Hudson Valley cultural renaissance together at one property, and evokes the region’s sense of exploration, nostalgia and craftsmanship through design, programming and local culinary offerings.

DO NOT BRING DOGS OR SMALL CHILDREN While I was checking into the hotel, my girlfriend took our dogs for a walk behind the hotel. She was attacked by two Pitbull’s that were not on leashes. The two dogs latched onto one of my dogs and attempted to kill him. We called the police who informed us that they come to complex frequently and have had problems with these individuals and dogs in the past. The dogs owners were clearly on under the influence of drugs or alcohol and took no responsibility for the incident. We had to take our dog to the emergency vet 45 minutes away. Upon returning to the hotel at 2 AM, we found that there was no security or front desk staff until 7 AM. Very unsettling given the front door was completely unlocked and the police are often called to the surrounding low income apartments. The next morning we asked to talk to a general manager 4 different times throughout the day. The general manager, who is also the owner, never reached out. We found out that the general manager is actually located full time in New York City. Given the management/ownerships disregard for the safety of their guests, this is clearly more of a hobby than a real business. Too bad because its a cool place.

Great lodge. Great restaurant. Cool common area with a library of interesting books, board games, Lincoln Logs, and a fireplace. Our room had a loft and a very effective fire place that kept us toasty. You can see Hunter Mountain from all the rooms. Friendly staff. Now if only we could make the Catskills as tall as the Tetons...

Super cool vibe. Love hanging by the fireplace and in the restaurant. S'mores o'clock at 5pm. My greater Swiss mountain dog @samsonswissie loves it here.

This place has super hip vibes! But the bed and pillows were not comfortable, you could hear people in the halls and in the adjacent rooms (it felt like they were practically in the room with us!), and the temperature was hard to regulate. But all in all we had a nice stay and would consider coming back.

Incredible decor! Super cozy but make sure you make a reservation far in advance for the restaurant !
