Story

Welcome to the Sawmill Taphouse & Grill, the home of good food for good people. Located in Chemainus Village Square the Sawmill offers a unique selection of Northwest Pacific craft beers, fresh Italian style wood fired pizzas and slow cooked smoked meat. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are all available.

Come on in for a birthday, corporate function or to just kick back with friends after a long day.

A restaurant with character. The interior is finished with wood and bits from the old sawmill. Over 30 local craft beers on tap alongside a good selection of local wine and ciders. The food is also quite good. They have a nice pizza oven and a well rounded menu. I recommend the fried bread and garlic dip.

Beautiful, well thought-out decor theme; rustic and urban. Delicious food from the appetizers to the main entrees. We had, and recommend, the fresh crab cakes with a Thai twist, a stone oven pizza, and the turkey special! My husband is a beer connoisseur and love the large variety of beers on tap to choose from. Had a great time! Excellent service!!

Outstanding Customer Service. Yesterday after a long trip involving cancelled flights we stopped in for a beer. We were on foot, towing luggage and asked about a taxi which was not available. We decided to walk the 1 km to the ferry in the rain. Much to our surprise a lady in a white truck picked us up- she was a server at the restaurant ! Outstanding and so appreciated.

Good people. Nice place. Went there to have wood baked pizza. Got gas cooked pizza. Maybe you need to stop advertising wood fired pizza?

Five star gourmet pizza!! My first foodie experience in Chemanius since I moved here! I heard some complaints before I had the opportunity to visit but it didn’t deter me to give it a try as the photos on the website of their true Itallian style pizza just had to be tried. My only disappointment was they didn’t have any freezer cold beer glasses. So I will ask and keep asking till they accommodate me on one of my future visits! Can’t wait to return!
