The history of Sanborn’s Jewelers is one of deep Muskegon community ties and rich family tradition. Sanborn’s established business in 1954, when Dean Sanborn, Sr. bought Melvin Jewelers--a company he had worked for since 1938. Dean, in turn, brought his son, Don into the business in the 1970’s, and Don brought his own two children, Scott Sanborn and Susan Sanborn-Poulin, in as third generation partners.
The location of Sanborn’s has also changed through the years. Originating on Peck Street in Muskegon Heights, the store moved to its current location on Henry Street in 2002. A recent expansion doubled the size of the store and enabled the Sanborn company to become the largest distributor of the popular Pandora jewelry line in West Michigan.
In 2008, Sanborn’s opened its first satellite store in the resort town of Saugutuck, Michigan. This has made the Sanborn name a familiar one to customers all along the Michigan lakeshore.
Sanborn Jeweler’s is not your average jewelry store. Through the years, Sanborn’s has carried a wide variety of items. But the emphasis then and now is on quality merchandise and superior customer service. When you come to Sanborn’s you feel like family. That is what a family-owned business is all about.
