This is one of the only large supermarkets located in downtown Winnipeg. It offers all the basic products, along with a selection of more premium and specialty items.nnThey also have a great bakery section with a wide variety of fresh bread and pastries, which are delicious. In addition, they sell prepared foods, I especially like the spinach swirls.nnThe fruit and vegetable selection is quite extensive, and they also have a floral section, which is a nice touch.nnOverall, you can find everything you need, including frozen foods, meats, dairy, and fish. For payment, they offer both regular checkout counters and self-checkout options.nnThe only downside is that prices are relatively high, but the variety and convenience make up for it.
Cashiers are friendly and very helpful. Great selection of everything I need. A little more expensive than other locations, but you pay for convenience, lol.

Worse place for fruits and veg. You can almost taste the pesticides. If you buy organic you will be paying triple the price for unproven products.nSafeway is ludicrous for middle class consumers
Rita/Setareh from the floral section deserves a raise.nnI frequently go to the safeway here on river because I work near the osborne/river area, which means before my shifts I am usually there to pick up a snack or some hot foods.nEvery year for mothers day, I go to this safeway to buy flowers for the mothers at my workplace, it's been a tradition of mine ever since i started working and Rita by far has been the best staff member I have ever interacted with ever since I got this job.nnI grabbed flowers to make a bouquet for my coworkers, and she greeted my boyfriend and i with the warmest smile ever, i knew she was a new staff member since i wouldve been able to recognize her otherwise! We had an amazing chat as she wrapped my flowers up, she let me customize my bouquet to the fullest extent while providing her professional opinion all at the same time.nThis interaction happened the day after mothers day, I asked her about how busy it was on the actual day of mothers day and she told me it was quite bust as expected haha, I truly believe Rita is one of the most sincere and genuine staff members ive ever met and she made me realize that a short, sweet and sincere conversation with a stranger can change the direction of your day in such a positive way. I truly believe her attitude and actions will forever be a memory of mine,, to the management,, please give rita the best treatment you can! She's an amazing woman
