Safeway Pharmacy

I have never had anything like the negative experiences noted below. This store is the only grocery store I've EVER been to that makes me feel like I'm part of their neighborhood. The cashiers get to know you; they are conversational and genuinely friendly. And if you mention that they're out of stock on something you like, they won't bat an eyelash at offering to special-order it for you. Some of them let you know when an item you're about to buy is about to go on sale. The pharmacy staff at this Safeway are wonderful as well. It's clean and very well-managed. I don't mind paying a few extra dollars on my groceries for the great experience (versus going to Winco).

Store is OK. The gas station used to have the lowest prices in southeast. As of the last month they have switched to the highest. 399 The Arco who in kitty corner competes with them always keeping there price 1 penny less. They are still one penny less at 398 but this is high too . FM is a dime less than both of them. That didn't use to be. They are gouging the public. I have stopped buying gas and groceries there. I have been a steady customer since the store opened. I also have a delivery business and used to buy gas 5 days a week there. I drive all over Portland and Vancouver so I know what I'm talking about with gas prices.

I use to do ALL my shopping at this store... I stopped shopping there about 6 months ago, it has for some reason really gone down hill. There is a different management team there now and I am guessing they are the ones who are changing things around. What happened to the Store Director Amina, and the the Assitant Manager Casey? They both just disappeared right before I stopped shopping there, they use to special order me in my 8 cases of G2 Gatorade 8- packs and my 2 boxes of otter pops weekly that I needed for my diet/health problems. They were both great, really friendly and they made me feel very welcomed as a customer, and the BOTH had smiles on their faces all the time. This store really had that neighborhood grocery store feel to it and I loved it, the employees were happy to help and seemed to like their job. Now I have to go somewhere else to get a special order completed. I have yet to found another store that has a happy manager in it.... All the others are grumpy or you just simply never see them in the store while shopping. This store carries a lot of speciality items that other store don't carry. However, on my last two shopping trips, the in stock conditions were really bad, the shelves were pretty empty and they honestly were out of basically everything on the ad or special sale items. When I asked a "supervisor" why this was, they just said they didn't know and more should be coming in tomorrow, and to come back then. That was about 6 months ago, and I have yet to return. Who knows maybe things have returned to normal. But with Safeway's high prices, I am not willing to take a chance. I am or was what they called an "elite shopper", since I spent so much money there each week, I got special prices and deals on things, and a direct personal phone number to reach Amina or Casey if I had any issues. I thought that was pretty smart of Safeway. I also took advantage of the Just for You program for a couple trips there, but it always seems liek the site is down, or if I used my iphone to shop with the program, I wouldn't have any reception in the store! Like I said before I use to shop at this Safeway, I would spend all my money there, I loved the employees and Management, I never went to Fred Meyer or Winco that are both just down the street. But now I do all my shopping at the Fred Meyer down the road, on Johnson Creek Blvd. They have better gas rewards than Safeway does coem to find out. They have a lot more checkers than Safeway too. Overall, it just seems like Safeway is jacking prices up while bring customer service down. Must be the direction the corporate guys want.... If you choose to shop at Safeway, I am just giving you a fair warning, STAY AWAY FROM THE SAFEWAY ON MCGLOUGHLIN BLVD IN OAK GROVE! THE STORE DIRECTOR SHELLEY IS CRAZY! She is the rudest person ever. She yells at her employees in front of customers. I can't believe she hasn't been fired yet! There is only ever only 1 SINGLE CHECKER in that store, with a huge line of people! Worst experience ever! That Store Director Shelley has honestly pushed my away and lost my business forever! I guarantee she is soley responsible for turning away thousands of customers! I would like to see how sales were before she got there, because they can't possible be metting or exceeding the company's goal in that store because of her. Todd

Very friendly though very...very...very...slow no matter the time of day. Disconcerting to those of us who step up to the express line to purchase a few items and the people (like almost everyone else in the line) in front have many, many items. Don't tease us with an express line if it means nothing to you.

one of the friendliest, cleanist and easiest grocery stores to navigate with the best selections in the area. Every experience has been good and never noticed any thing ill-mannered or negative in experience while shopping here.
