I had a challenging experience at this school in an undergraduate life sciences program. Despite being friendly with everyone, I found the faculty generally unwelcoming, and while some students were friendly, a significant number behaved rudely and coldly. Unfortunately, I also faced harassment and racial abuse from homeless individuals in the area, which added to the overall negative environment. Moreover, despite the degree being advertised as a pathway to good jobs, it didn't deliver on those promises, and I struggled to find opportunities or receive adequate career support. The overall atmosphere made me feel like it wasn't a real university. Eventually, I decided to transfer to another school for a better academic and personal experience.
• Easy, laid back university. Teachers are chill as this is not an elite university.nn• Terrible social life. Most students go to class then go home.nn• If you’re looking for the American style university experience like in the movies, this is not the place for you.nn• Located in the heart of the city, a lot of addicts and homeless people laying on the streets just as you go to class.nn• Full of gang looking “Toronto men” aka Road Men as we call them in England. I’d say this university is kind of trashy and it’s for the middle to lower class.nnIn conclusion: if you must go to a university in the city, save yourself the trouble and go to UofT.
Edit: The university still has not dealt fully with my accessibility issues and I have now come across HUNDREDS of other students who have also had this problem. This school is not disability friendly.nnI find many of the services and parts of the university pretty good. Had a really horrible experience with my accessibility needs but that’s slowly on the up and up. Many parts of the website are confusing including that the test centre only has its address in the most mundane place ever. The student centre is really cool inside though!
I think 2 stars is being generous. So far, my experience at TMU has been a long list of disappointments. As an international student, I struggle to understand how the grand rate of our tuition is equivalent to the quality of education received in this institution. Although some professors demonstrate a passion for their work, most have truly made me question why I’m paying the amount that I do for them to do such lazy work.nI truly wanted to enjoy my experience here. I thought maybe the problem was pandemic related, but even after the pandemic I have not seen things improve.
It was my first time to pass by Ryerson University. I was shocked by all the garbage in front of their Student Learning Centre on campus. The stairs were very very dirty too. It gave me a terrible experience and a really bad impression.
