Delicious, authentic tasting Pho with a lighter yet rich broth that is not too salty and tastes MSG free. I found their broth unique and refreshing. Tried both the regular and spicy satay pho and both were fresh and tasty. Their three kinds of beans dessert with pandan jelly was also quite enjoyable as not all pho restaurants offer this classic treat. A solid place for Vietnamese food. P.S. The pho comes in small, large, and extra large sizes and the place is cash and debit only.
Good seasoning .tasty! What to little more deep flavor but it's okay . Good potion. Reasonable price.
A little something for everyone at this unapologetically Vietnamese and Cambodian eatery. I liked their pho. Bun bo hue was a little no frills but still satisfying! Great place to walk to if you're in the hood!
The lemongrass chicken on fried rice was the best of the three dishes we had. It tasted like there was quite a bit of msg in the dish, but it did get you salivating. The spring rolls had a nice crunch to them. I'm guessing their traditional pho was probably alright, but we did not try it. The beef with broccoli was not great, but not terrible. Their portion sizes are huge, so I imagine if you order the right dishes you might get good value here.
Ordered the number 71 prawn with spring roll vermicelli bowl. It was a very filling amount and tasty. I suggest asking for a sprig of basil or mint to ante up the flavour and freshness. The service was great and during Covid they did a great job with sanitizing surfaces.
Fantastic addition to the champlain mall area. I have been waiting for 2 months and finally got a chance to go. Amazing dishes, very clean place tones of parking. All the ingredients are fresh and it was well worth the wait. They only take cash so take some cash with you
Royal Pho Restaurant is a Vietnamese restaurant that’s located in Champlain Square. As we don’t have many Vietnamese places nearby, we stopped by to grab some take-out in May. We wound up ordering the Chicken Sandwich $6.95, Deep Fried Wontons $8.95, Shrimp Salad Rolls $8.50, Deep Fried Fish Cakes $8.95, Grilled Pork, Spring Roll & Marinated Pork with Vermicelli $13.50. Most of the items were just average with the fish cakes and the wontons probably being the best. I did, however, find that some of the crispy wontons appeared to be overcooked. I was originally thinking the chicken sandwich would be a traditional banh mi but it’s literally a western chicken sandwich with no resemblance to a banh mi other than some pickled carrots and daikon the bread was way too soft. The salad roll was okay but they made it open on both ends so everything was falling out. And, while the spring roll pretty good, the marinated pork was just a bit too tough. Overall, fairly average eats with a price that is somewhat higher than what you’d expect for the quality similar to nearby 54 Ave Cafe. Given the lack of Vietnamese places in the immediate area, this might do in a pinch otherwise, head over to Victoria Dr. where you’ll find more options available.
I live in the area and was extremely disappointed with my chicken pho. They gave me chicken carcass instead of chicken. Honestly it’s a unbelievable. How can you serve that and be proud of what you are putting out to the public. It’s a disgrace. I advise all possible patrons to avoid this place. If they are willing to cut corners like that then what else are they doing.
I have never had to leave a restaurant with the food on the table, but this was simply awful. The beef was 90% fat. The chicken was 50% skin. The vegetables were old and the basil had rotten spots. When I pointed these things out to the owner, she got mad....Oh well, first and last time here.
To say bland is to say water is flavorful. Gave it a shot a few times as it is near by, never again. Service is rather cold and rude. Worst was the dishes I ordered that were nothing more than whole chicken chopped into small bits with a cleaver, BONES and all, such that it was a minefield of sharp and ultimately dangerous jagged bone fragments. This same dish 2 times in a row. Not fit for human consumption.
