Cute establishment with friendly staff! The rice rolls has a good chew to them and the spring rolls were nice and crispy. The meatballs were a little cold compared to the other items though due to them sitting in the dipping sauce. The egg coffee was really tasty but a little sweet for my taste. Chicken wings were solid! I would order these again. The noodle soup tasted really clean and comforting which was perfect on a snowy day . Heads up though - they accept debit and cash only in store!
Amazing Northern Vietnamese cuisine made with love! If you want to try something a bit different and some really great quality, unique dishes, look no further! Pork belly and patties is a must try! We were so full so didn’t get to try the egg coffee or the sweet rice and mango for dessert. Will be back soon!
We went to Vietnam a few months ago and loved the food we had in Hanoi. This is one of the very few restaurants that offered the specific Hanoi dishes that we were looking for - cha ca la vong and bun cha hanoi. These are some of the dishes we ordered: - Papaya Salad: nice and refreshing appetizer - Pork and Crabmeat Spring Roll: Not bad but slightly different from the usual Vietnamese spring rolls I’m used to and preferred - Cha Ca Ha Noi Turmeric Fish with fresh dill: If you’re not sure how to eat it, the staff said they can definitely show you. Their sauce had shrimp paste, which is different from the cha ca we had in Vietnamese. Some of the people in our party preferred the sauce this way. - Bun Cha Ha Noi Grilled Pork Belly and Patties: Loved this dish in Vietnam. Theirs come pretty close to it as well. - Beef Stew in Claypot: We ordered this just to try out and was pleasantly surprised how yummy it is. The bread they serve with it was delicious as well. Overall, I would definitely come back here when I’m craving Bun Cha or Cha Ca. I would likely reorder the papaya salad or beef stew as well. They also have egg coffee on their menu so I’ll try that next time as well. Highly recommend this place to try some Vietnamese dishes that are not readily found in most Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver.
It was my first time having vietnamese egg coffee. It was very rich and tasty. The special beef stir fry pho was unique. It felt very nourishing drinking the broth. The food in general feels like a special homemade meal.
Hands down to the best Vietnamese restaurant in our neighbourhood. Excellent dine-in place, fresh and perfectly cooked food, soothing lower volume music and the good old retro interior. So glad that I live close to such a great restaurant. Do try their fried chicken wings.
Authentic Hanoi dishes and flavors. Their crab spring roll with the rice paper is a must try. The bun bun cha Hanoi is outstanding. I highly recommend this Hanoi Old Quatre restaurant for an true Northern Vietnamese experience.
Likely the most authentic restaurant for Northern Vietnamese food. Banh cuon, Cha ca, Bun Thang are usually our favorites. Always our go-to place when we’re too lazy to cook and want Vietnamese food
5 stars across the board for food and service! The food made me feel like I was in Hanoi. I highly recommend this restaurant for people who want authentic Northern Vietnamese Cuisine
The first two stars were for the beautiful decoration, warm and welcoming ambience. The food, however, was below my expectations. The type of beef jerky in the papaya salad tasted inauthentic and did not tie the flavors together well. Instead of Vietnamese herbs, they used lettuce. The bun dau was okay, but lacks some important ingredients that are unique to the dish such as the vermicelli blocks bun la ep and green rice fried patties cha com. Won't be coming back as for the same price, you can get more portion and flavor at other restaurants down the same street.
Very authentic Hanoi style pho! Some review says the broth is plain but this is how pho is like in Hanoi, no hoisin sauce and other toppings so you taste the light and pureness of the broth. And they served the pho ga with donut, along with the vinegar pickled garlic slices and chilli, exactly like how we had it in Hanoi. In a day and time when international travel is limited, this meal has brought me back to the good old times when we were in Hanoi!
