Rosie Robin is the person, Rosie Robin is the convinience store. Inside, there’s real food alongside the standard, packaged convenience fare. There are hand-scooped Tropical Treets mango and Sicilian pistachio ice-creams, carrot cakes from Dufflets, Top Taste beef patties, and home cooked Caribbean oxtail with rice, pumpkin soup and codfish, banana and coconut cakes. Slowly, she bonded with the neighbours, listening to what they wanted sold in their community store, including brand-name coffee, Jones Soda, and fresh pizza and fried chicken. Forteen years and several renovations later, Rosie Robin Convenience is a hybrid grocery store/restaurant. She works seven days a week, 8 to 10 hours a day.
