What a magical place! Awesome little hike to the water which is so fresh and lovely. Our daughter was in love with it and we fell asleep watching the fireflies above us. Everyone was chill and calm. Definitely want to come back and spend more time.
This is a Must Visit!!We fell in-love with this campground. It has public restroom and amazing hiking trails right next to the river. Great for kayaking, white water rafting, swimming, fishing. Great for tent or RV camping.Kid & pet friendly. Art is one of the Best Hosts I've met. Very helpful, informative, & friendly. This is one of the best Campground in Hot Springs. #bestcampground,#camping, #hiking,#whitewater,#rafting, #restrooms,#fishing,#hotsprings,#NC,#river,#familyfriendly,#petfriendly,#amazing,#best,#kayak,#tent,#motorhome,#trials,#RV
Awesome campground. Quiet and secluded. Wish it was open all year round.
Alright place. Tucked in the valleys of the mountains and quite secluded on the weekdays, despite campsites being very close together. Each site has a pit, picnic table and tent area. No showers, but the restrooms were very clean and fully stocked women's, anyway... No star or sunrise/sunset views and had notably loud traffic day/night. Only $8/night though, can't go wrong there.
Great place to camp. The stone work that was put into this place back in the sixties is just incredible! Every site is unique. Hiking includes a short hike to the lookout into the gorge of Spring creek Great view, then to a really old cemetery on the ridge top. Kids enjoyed that late night hike. A moderate hike down to the creek is totally worth the trip. Good trout fishing and wildlife viewing. Clean and working restrooms. Bring the bikes for the kids! The campground loop is a ton of fun. Art is a great host, takes really good care of the place. The best part, 8 bucks a night and day use is free!
They should really have this open year-round as dry camping in the off-season. It's a great spot and the trail down to the water is so nice. There's no reason to not have it available for use so much of the year.
Campsites all crammed in together. We secured our online and there were people on it when we arrived at 4 in the afternoon. They moved, but they were up until 6am fighting and we could hear everything. Spring Creek trail was beautiful and easily accessible. Bathrooms were decent for being in the woods.
This place was a major disappointment!!! It hasn’t been maintained and only a small portion was open for camping. The trail that people mentioned was blocked off by fallen trees and couldn’t get but so far. Most of the area is overgrown and a mess. Sad that the state of North Carolina has let this go so bad!
It was neat. Tucked away down a really windy highway, you feel very secluded. The meth heads camped next to us fought quite a bit, at one point around midnight the lady ran off and the dude was running through the woods screaming for her to return. Fortunately a sherrif's deputy happened by in the middle of this. He left the meth heads behind when he drove away. So that was fun. As luck would have it, a young man and his girlfriend stopped by to chat. Nice people. He is a waiter somewhere, and she was recently released from prison after serving her sentence for attempted murder. The trail to Spring Creek is a bit slick if it has rained recently, but its worth the short hike. Strikingly beautiful water. Great little campground.
We stayed one night in early August 2019. The campground was fairly remote and secluded, and the price of $15 is unbeatable. We heard screech owls calling to each other throughout the night which was beautiful. The camp host was very helpful, and we enjoyed the short trails connected to the campground through the forest. There are no showers or electricity, but the bathrooms have flush toilets.
