RockWood Urban Grill

First time eating at the Rockwood and I wasn't disappointed. First off, amazing and friendly staff. Very patient, attentive abd good sense of humour. The drinks were delicious and served in large glasses and looked presentable. The food was outstanding and tasted delicious! My only disappointment, as well as my friends, was that the size of the chicken for the meal was very small. Generous portions of veggies and the other meal our friend ate had large portions. Paying this price, I would expect a decent size of chicken, not half a chicken breast and the other half to my friend. Would have gotten 5 stars otherwise.

Arrived as a party of 3 6pm on a Friday, were promptly seated. Service was good, decor was nice, both the restaurant seating and lounge felt a little cramped, just enough to be bothersome but not a show stopper. For the food: Appetizers brisket sliders: 3 sliders of brisket, bbq sauce, cheese on a pretzel bun. They were tasty but quite heavy for an appetizer, too much bun. Lettuce wraps: asian stirfry, served with lettuce leaves for wrapping.... Need I say more. It was tasty but the lettuce was ridiculous, it looks like they just chopped a head of lettuce into quarters and tossed it on the plate, the chicken was also over cooked, I have had this dish at several other Winnipeg restaurants joey's, moxies, hy's and this was by far the worst implementation. We did not finish eating this dish. Mains Sirloin steak entrée: The cut of meat for both steaks was excellent, tender, well cooked. The rub was a little salty for my taste but to each is own. The shrimp skewer was...... Well it was shrimp grilled on a stick, no special seasoning but again was cooked perfectly. The stuffed potato and vegetables were delicious and well seasoned. The mac & cheese was all mac, no cheese.... The bbq chips were awesome but avoid the dip, not sure how to describe it, but steer clear. Cowboy platter: Nothing to complain about here, brisket had a nice smokey taste, well cooked, sausage was run of the mill farmers sausage, ribs were excellent, sauce was super tasty. Beans were a little runny but again nice flavour. Over all: I would recommend the Rockwood grill if your in the mood for a steak and some drinks, with little to no intimacy, in other words romance look elsewhere. I would avoid the appetizers. I should mention that as far as value, the quality of food is on par with the prices. Dinner for 3 with 2 apps..... And a ton of drinks was $250 with the tip. Very reasonable for the amount of food and alcohol we had. Will I be back.... Yup, but it will most likely be for the booze while I watch a jets game.

Food is good, service should improve! Edit , went there again, food took 45 minutes to arrive, service still very bad compared to any restaurant here in the city. Unfortunately for me, since I live nearby, it will take another year to try again. Edit, again same impression. Went this week 2 times. Kids burger are very small. New York steak was good. Server were polite and friendly, but somehow the service is always slow. But still the best option nearby

This was my second time here and just like the first time my food was delicious! If you like salmon I highly recommend you give it a try here.

Stopped in for lunch today, and my burger was amazing. All the food was great and the service was wonderful. Would definitely eat here again!

Restaurant was decent enough but it felt more like a chain than having any unique character. Our server was great and really did help set the tone. Prices were good. Food was good. Nothing spectacular but I could see myself coming back for a few bevvies for sure.

My first time was amazing! Fast friendly service. I tried the Buddha Bowl with tofu since I'm going more for vegetarian options which I love, so there is something for everyone here! My family loved the burgers, steaks, and ribs. I really loved how all the vegetables were separate so I could see how much portions there were for each ingredient in the Buddha Bowl. Definitely going back to try more things soon!!!

Great atmosphere, great food and drinks. I would describe it as a rustic atmosphere and look. Full rack of ribs was almost too much, and I can put away a lot of food. But they were delicious. I've had the 100 mile burger before as well, and that is an exceptional burger.

Wonderful place.to go for dinner. Very friendly staff. Ordered the steak and fries and the steak came out to perfection. Fries were delicious with parmesan cheese melted onto them. I could have just eaten a big plate of those fries. Wife ordered the salmon, which had a wonderful sauce on it. We both left so full. Prices are a bit on the higher side. $92.00 for an appetizer, 2 meals, a glass of wine, a beer, and a pop. Would have given it 5 out of 5, but there were a few flies hovering around.
