We always have a great time at Coast Guard festival! We actually incorporated the ship tours into our 12 year anniversary celebration! The volunteers from Coast Guard were wonderful on the tours! The volunteer for the virtual reality marine event was very personable and professional! We absorbed a lot of information about the preparation of and travel to grand Haven for the ships! Thank you all for your service!
The whole town gets together to make sure everyone has a Great time! After the famed Musical Fountain, we like to stand at the end of Washington St. to watch the fireworks. Some go out on boats to watch. GREAT TIME!! GREAT MEMORIES!! ....Just Sayin'
Great fun watching the Coast Guard Cutters coming in to port. Here is the USCGC MACKINAW.
The coast guard festival is amazing we celebrate the hard work of these brave men and women there's a lot of fun family events throughout the week and the musicians are so talented
This event is so much fun but can be extremely busy at times. It’s an entire week and a half of celebrating the US Coast Guard. My family and I have been going the past 3 years and we love taking a tour on the Coast Guard ships in the evenings. We take our little kids with us and have a great time. For the big parade, it’s best to arrive at least 2 hours early to find parking, anything later than that and you will have to walk a few miles or take an Uber/Lyft. The parade is very long but so much fun. Plan on bringing a pop up tent or umbrella as it is very hot & sunny during the parade. Then enjoy the carnival rides afterwards and fireworks in the evening.
I have been attending the Coast Guard festival every year since before I could even walk, and every year I mark it on the calendar so I don't miss it. If you can make it for multiple days, you'll have no lack of fun things to do, but if you can make it for only one, don't miss the final Saturday every year. The parade is best in state of Michigan every year, the ship tours are awesome, the carnival is huge and a ton of fun, the shows are almost always worthy of attendance, and the fireworks extravaganza, lit off during a presentation by the world famous musical fountain, is the best fireworks display of each and every year, always besting any July 4th display I have ever attended. I can't recommend the festival highly enough, and will no doubt see you there!
The BEST weekend in Michigan! Of course it's crowded.....that's what makes it fun. I love the display of patriotism, the amazing firework display on Saturday night, the carnival, the ships to explore, the art fair.....NOTHING about it I would say I didn't like! Check it out for yourself, and NO...I do not live in the area or have a vested interest in the success of this Festival; just have gone to it for many years and wouldn't miss it!
If you like live music, beer and people watching it can be loads of fun.
Nifty! Very few, if any bear attacks.
This place is amazing!! Great food and the atmosphere is through the roof.
