Restaurant L'académie

We went December 13 for our Christmas party... I can honesty say it was one of the worst meals I have ever tasted..i mentioned that the food was not very good to waiter and he said well he could tell the cook but the cook would not care...wow.. bad food and bad service... I could not eat my meal and left it on my plate....many of our party did not eat their meal.... everything was bad... it was a huge joke at work today... everyone talked about how bad the food was....... I gave a 1 star only because I could not give a 0.... really really bad

A great restaurant for semi formal occasions. Very well styled with a modern professional look. Food quality was also good with everyone at the table complementing their dish. As for service time, it is a restaurant that you are meant to talk and take your time so speed eaters should be weary. My tortellini rosée with veal was delicious with a nice flavourful sauce and excellent strong parmesan. For someone that wants to treat themselves to a fancier super, look no further. AND DONY FORGET TO BRING YOUR OWN WINE. (Also the bathrooms were super clean)

So glad they finally opened a new branch in Gatineau. Quality and service are on par from the ones in Montreal. Excellent value if you go during the off-peak hours for the food specials. The décor and ambience are first class and surprisingly kids friendly. My complaints are the mussels weren't the freshest and the desserts were quite pricy. Make a reservation if you go during peak hours.

Very disappointing experience. My wife had chicken where half tasted overwhelmingly burnt and the other half undercooked to a point we had to send it back. The sauce tasted like something watered down. My duck had boring flavours and cooking was not on par either (very uneven with the ends overcooked). If I was the owner I would have fired the "chef" on the spot for letting such horrible plates go thrue the pass! Only positive was the service, which didn't make up for the horrible food. Overall bad experience, will not go back.

We were not new to L'Académie as we often go to the one in Centropolis in Laval. We were two couples and we found the experience at the Gatineau establishment to be much below our expectations. Wehad reserved a booth as we were goig on a Friday night (21 April 2017), and were given a table near the kitchen with lots of traffic. My wife and I had the fish of the day which was red snapper. It was overdone and was probably cold from waiting to be served. They served it with a cold mixture of fruits which did not complement the fish. The greatest deception was the service. The waiter was slow, with poor manners. One does not mention that he eats anything, even a mouse if it were served to him. This is more appropriate to a pub, not in a restaurant like the Academie. The waiter offered pepper to only one person and went away, we could not get him back. He proved to be impatient when we asked for more hot water for the tisane. All in all, it made for a disappointing experience.
