45 minutes. No service....We had a glass of water, flagged down the hostess after no one came to us after 15 minutes. Server came over no apology and took our order. We waited for a glass of wine, a soda and 2 Caesar salads very complicated order I guess Should have been a sign when we were walking in and another couple walked out and told hostess they waited an hour and only got wine.....
I love this place! Not only is it walking distance from home but I have always tired something new each time I come and have never been disappointed. The food is amazing, huge portions, never leave empty handed, always something to take home ! We usually go Friday or Saturday night so the bar is busy, drinks can take a while after 7PM, that is why I only give 4 stars. Older crowd, but fun times. Cozy and comfy atmosphere, friendly staff and patrons.
I feel really bad about having to post one star but my friend and I had such high expectations and had read reviews not only posted here but in RI monthly that we really expected better if not the best experience in fine dining. Not so-- first off, the entrance is not very inviting, " kids" are working there- - very cheap-- nice waitress but giggly, silly, didn't attend to us much, too long a wait for meal-- we arrived with call ahead-- at 7:15 did not get meal until 8:20!!! And it was NOT busy. The bar was and she keot saying sorry so slow because of huge parties there- LIE. When food came all the veggies were cold, the chicken I had was slightly warm, potatoes were hot. The meal deal for 2 is not good . I day forget this one. I think there are new owners. They suck! The only redeeming feature is the old house itself but they were not full and it's clear to see why! 2 thumbs down on such a disappointing evening!! Hire some older, mature staff and learn how to cook instead of only catering to the drunks in the bar and having stupid tarot card reading!!! Very low class and cheesy!!!
The ambiance is incredible, very cozy place! The food however is not so good. I ordered veal parmesan which is one of the easiest dishes to prepare and I had to have it taken off the check. Also had a shrimp and prosciutto appetizer, small portion compared to the price and it ended up being way to salty. Wife had a steak tip dish that was pretty good but that didn't make up for the other failed executions. RI has so many great options that I just can't settle for meritocracy these days. Maybe a visit for a few drinks but never again for dinner.
Food is always great. Service is always quick and nice. They should deliver, honestly needs an update inside. It reminds me of my grandma’s house, which is nice and all, but not a restaurant. Everyone that goes here is nice. Bartenders are awesome, wait staff is awesome, best food in apponaug.
I can not stress enough how much I love this place! The Remington House Inn has a cozy country feel on the inside with a miniature water view from it's outdoor patio seating. The food is amazing and the price is right for the portions and quality of food/service. I've been here two times in the last month and wish I'd found it sooner! It is literally my favorite restaurant in RI. I try to dedicate a little bit of each review to decor, and this one won't be any different. This "Inn Style" restaurant has everything from a non-operational but picturesque stone fireplace to a prim and clean looking bar area. I haven't had a chance to sit at the bar yet, because they've always been able to sit us quickly and with little to no issue. If it's a nice day I would really suggest sitting on the patio, as it is a nice view and gets the same quality service as sitting at a table in doors. If you are a bit averse to the weather outside, whether pun somewhat intended it be rain or just overly sticky and suffocating humidity I've found the indoor climate to be pretty much perfect. As for the wait staff I've always found them polite and extremely quick. Sometimes the service can be a little slowed when they are absolutely swamped but the staff is always clearly doing there best, even in the most hectic of bouts. Despite being there for a dinner rush we were seated immediately since we'd called ahead and were provided our check and boxed left overs in a very reasonable amount of time. The staff also offered extra bread and brought it over immediately upon noticing we were a party of five and had half finished the first serving. Despite the good things above the real reason to come here is the seafood dishes in my opinion. I'm a bit of a seafood nut and some of my snobbishness may have leaked through in previous reviews of seafood meals. Well if you've thought that, listen up, because the Salmon Pasta dish here is the best I've ever had. The salmon and scallops were both succulent and moist and the sauce and pasta was amazing. This isn't to say the other dishes aren't good, I'm just saying if you like seafood, try one of their dishes! If seafood isn't your thing or you just aren't feeling it there are still plenty of tasty options. Our party of five had a calamari appetizer as well as entrees of Chicken Marsala, Chicken Napoleon, New Orleans Pasta and a delicious grilled summer assortment special. All of the food was great and had ample proportions to make me feel like I should sit a little or maybe nap before leaving. The food here is legitimately the main reason for the five star rating. I've been here before and two things to look out for are the delicious sangria pitcher, which may be better advised for a group of three as opposed to two and the illusive dessert special cheesecake. When they have it available there is a fried banana cheesecake that is to die for. The cake melts in your mouth and the sweet vanilla ice cream on top stops it from melting your mouth. I can not recommend this restaurant enough. If you want some good food and don't mind spending an extra 2-3 dollar per entree come here! I gladly paid the premium and can't wait to come back in the near future.
Delicious food and great appetizers for group gatherings. The mixed drinks are really strong and reasonably priced. The food is fine dining quality, but in a laid-back atmosphere.
I have been to the Remington House many times. Unfortunately, this time our visit there was subpar. The staff was overly concerned with apparent regulars to the point where they forgot our families next round of drinks, and they allowed a non service dog in the establishment even though my son is allergic to dogs. The chicken masala was so dried out it could be used as chicken jerky, it's sad that this once great restaurant has diminished in flavor and overall customer service. It was always a favorite of ours. It's rare that I post a bad review about restaurants, especially ones that I like, but this dining experience experience was not worth the money at all.
My girlfriend and I have been regulars there for about a year now, before that I went with my family almost all the time. Great food, the service is great, Trivia night on Thursday's are a blast. All around A+ very handicap friendly as well, nice & easy to get in and out of.
Great food, great atmosphere, it's homey, family oriented. Prices are a little high. But I wasn't able to try the steak dinner, because the people I was with, wanted to leave, so I wasn't able taste if the prices were worth it. Maybe some day soon?
