Ironworks Tavern

About

More gastropub than classic tavern, Iron Works serves innovative and updated takes on American classics, all from a building deeply steeped in the historical fabric of Warwick.

Story

Built by industrialist Thomas Jefferson Hill in 1867 for the manufacture of malleable iron castings, the R.I. Malleable Iron Works factory provided the nucleus for the village that was to grow around it. This mill, the adjoining mill housing in the neighboring blocks, the train depot and the Elizabeth Mill next door were all part of Hill's vision, who gave his name to the village "Hillsgrove". The Malleable Iron Works factory burned in 1918 and was almost immediately rebuilt.

The Iron Works Tavern is located in the original main office building, where Hill's office was located on the second floor. Much of the original foundry has been preserved, such as the 8-foot, 300 pound solid oak front door, the ceilings and beams, along with the brick. Many other details have been replicated to match the time period. The Iron Works Tavern is a reflection of this areas rich history and a beacon of its promising future.

Beautiful interior and very nice employees. They were able to accommodate to our bigger party with different dietary needs. Lots of great vegetarian options. The Calamari was amazing! I highly recommend. The mushroom entree was a little on the salty side but that’s my only complaint. Nachos were yummy, the fries are very fresh, and the salmon cooked perfectly! Delicious. Not pictured is the tasty espresso martini.
Went to this restaurant while staying at The Hilton Garden Inn. The food was delicious and the service was even better! Our waitress Sharon was very sweet and attentive. I hate the short rib and my mom had the salmon. Both were delicious! The lettuce wraps were also very good! We finished with the cheesecake. I hate to sound repetitive but it was SO GOOD! I would definitely come back to this restaurant and I might come back again during my stay!
I love it when an old structure or building is repurposed and gets a new life. Iron Works used to be an industrial foundry but is now serving some of the best eats in the Ocean State. Great twists on classic bar food and some truly unique new dishes. The Cauliflower and Lentil Fritters are amazing. The One Pound Pastrami is a heavy, juicy, flavor-packed sandwich you can share but it's so good you won't. Shaved Steak was delightful. Fries were a great sidekick to the sandwiches. Great selection of cocktails, draft and bottled beers. Extensive desert menu if you have any room. Offering gluten free breads and deserts as well. Very friendly staff, great decor. Definitely will become a favorite.
A cool place, It's totally a vibe. Service was excellent. The truffle fries are everything. They have a garlic ailoi on them and it's heavenly. Chicken sandwich was good but the fish tacos not so much. Sauce and veggies on them were good but the fish was fishy tasting not in a good way. I look forward to going back to try the brie board.
I love this place the food blew my mind. We got the pastrami sandwich and the short ribs, they were both insanely good. Love the whole grain mustard on the pastrami sandwich, one suggestion to make it even better is to serve a sauce with it. Great atmosphere and super cool waitressesDine in: Yes
The food here was just amazing! Truffle fries-the best I've ever had! Burger-soooo good! We all enjoyed our lunch very much. The atmosphere was awesome and relaxing. Staff were all friendly and attentive Plenty of parking. Definitely worth a visit!Food: 5/5
Busy at 6 - lots of individuals at the bar. Didn’t have a reservation would have been a 20 minute wait - sat at the bar. Had the prime rib - was cooked as I requested - food was fresh. Boyfriend had short rib - was fall off the bone - no knife needed. Good service - friendly staff.
We enjoyed our meal went twice during our stay. We did not have any issues except on the second visit we ordered some dessert close to closing time and the waiter said the kitchen was closed. We had a 0830 reservation and we ordered the dessert. The manager caught wind of that and corrected the issue. Food was good took off one star based on service.
GREAT DINNER AND EXPERIENCE!!! Only getting 5 stars because I cannot give 7! Walking in the door and I get “smacked in the nose” with an aroma of the food and I was like wow, this is gunna be good! And it’s was! We got sat right away even though it was almost packed to the max. Service was outstanding. I don’t remember the servers name but she was awesome! The owner / manager also was cruising the front of the house checking in tables and he spoke to us as well…..that was really nice. GREAT DINNER AND EXPERIENCE!!
The salmon entree and espresso martinis were great. Our server was super patient with our party of six that had lots of questions about the menu. Absolutely loved the vibe and atmosphere of the place. If I’m ever back in town, I’ll definitely be back.
