Nice small campground, friendly couple welcoming you. Overnight site ok, might need an hose extension. Owner lended his with pleasure. Close walk to the shallow bay to enjoy sunset on the municipal beach overlooking pier. 45-minute drive to Tobermory.
Nice campground, helpful and friendly staff. We stayed on Wilderness 3 site and it was big enough for 3 tents, one of which was a 10 person with screened in porch. Nice field behind us for kids to be able to throw around a football or play badminton. There is a pump in the nearby shed that runs quite a bit.
We stayed here for 4 nights in July 2021. We booked in February and this is the only place on the Bruce peninsula that didn’t require a 7 night stay. It’s a small RV park. Let me start by saying the owners are friendly and allowed us to stay an extra couple of hours to go to the beach as the site was empty until the next day. Our kids had a blast and made friends and had a great time. Pros: Convenient location to Lion’s Head, Sauble Beach and Tobermory and all those areas have to offer . We did a day trip everyday. The pool is clean and warm. The ice cream is good, generous sizes and reasonably priced. The playground structure is relatively new. Full hook ups that were reliable. 5 minute walk to Red Bay Beach which is lovely, shallow and warm and dog friendly. Cons: sites are small and difficult to park in. Very sandy. Once your trailer is in your vehicle has to be parked sideways in front. Anything larger than 27’ would find it very cramped. Grass and weeds need to be cut. Weeds are knee high. Bathrooms are closed. Trees and bushes need trimming - our coach was scratched coming through the entry. The entry scanner is buried in the cedar hedges. In order to park away from the fire pit the slide was up against the bushes. The entry is a 90 degree angle and if you don’t approach it the right way you have to back up to make a wider turn. The mini putt is closed and overgrown. The basketball court needs some love too. The volleyball court has no net. The garbage bins were never emptied the whole time we were there and we never saw any maintenance work being done. The location is amazing and we had a good time but this park is dated and worn. It needs some serious love. It has the potential to be a first rate RV park if it was given some time and energy. I hear it was nice in its heyday. This park is not for Novice RV drivers - some had to back down the road in order to exit the park. One camper got his SUV stuck into the sand trying to park his trailer. I guess it depends on what you are looking for in an RV Park. It served our purpose and we made the best of it and met some really great campers. We were able to do the sightseeing we wanted to do and had an enjoyable few days exploring with our family.
Wonderful camp ground!! A true family campground. Camping at Red Bay made amazing family memories for us this year. We were not given a sheet of rules and regulations when we arrived but were greeted with warmth and friendliness. We arrived Friday of the Labour Day weekend and our daughter and Grandkids joined us in the next site on Saturday. The park is sandy which is expected in the area and the sites well maintained. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to try the mini putt but it is on our list for our next visit. We really enjoyed the pool. The front desk reception area offers ice cream which my Grandkids loved!! This campground has something for everyone – playground with sand box equipped with toys, basketball area, mini putt, pool and in the park movies for the family! Not once did we see anyone speeding through the park – it was wonderful. The campground amenities - shower/change room and washrooms are dated but the camp does try to keep them clean. Everyone there is amazing!! For my family this campground is a 10+. Looking forward to going back.
This place is a gem!! The wonderful people at the front desk truly set the tone for your time here. They are friendly, down to earth, polite and welcoming. My time spent here was so relaxing. Buying your wood at the desk is perfect. It burns wonderfully and is easy to get to your site. The ice cream at the front desk is a definite positive with kids in tow. My young ones took to all the wonderful people at the front desk, they are normally very shy, but kids can sense people’s true personalities easier than adults. The sites are well kept. Playground was a big hit for my kids. They offer movies in the park! What a treat! The pool is well cared for and a wonderful spot to spend some time. There is a basketball court and mini putt. The speed limit is 10 and it is abided by all driving through. The park is quiet by 11. Any questions or concerns you may have are dealt with promptly by the office. Most sites seem to be seasonal, but there is still such a welcoming atmosphere towards transients such as myself from everyone in the park. I would highly recommend staying.
Very family oriented. A nice pool and short walk to the lake. There are trails, but they are not overly maintained, but still navigable. If your adventurous, it's not a long walk to get to EarthBound Gardens and well worth the hike.
Fun place to bring your family. The staff were super friendly. Everything was kept clean. Pool is nice and our kids lobed the playground. Beach is within walking distance too. Pets allowed.
Wish I could have stayed longer. This place is amazing. Try it out. If you need wood they will hook you up and deliver it to your site. I look forward to returning later. They do everything to make sure your stay is the best.. Love you guys thank you for the amazing stay.. The mini golf and basketball is cool
My kids and I found Red Bay on our way to Tobermory and since then we havent looked anywhere else. When it comes to camping we choose here, the staff are amazing the experience is memorable, its great for the adults and amazing for the kids. If we werent at the pool and buying ice cream, or at our favourite site sorry i cant share that one lol we are at the beach down the street. When we wanted to explore Tobermory wasnt far. We been talking about camping again since Xmas and Im excited to email them to book for this summer... soon as Im done writing this review. See you guys soon
Beautiful place to visit. Awesome pool, playground for kids, and 3 minute walk to the gorgeous beach. Great central location to stay and visit all the best local attractions.
