Story

Rath Art Supplies is more than just an art supply store. Of course we carry fine, professional art materials and an array of products for artists at all levels, but we are also a hub of sorts for local artists in Vancouver, B.C. and beyond. Every month we feature the work of an artist in our shop window. You'll find the owner and staff members at openings all over the city throughout the year as well. We love our customers and we love art. And if you need custom canvas stretching or wood panels, Stan's your man!

Rath is one of the best art supply stores for me. The staff were also knowledgeable and recommend brands that seem of nice quality. The place is organized and considering it is a smaller store than others, I'm surprised with several selections available. I bought a few to try them out. I'll update this review once I used them.
It has enough art supplies. The owner was so kind and helpful. I got a few pens and notebooks. Lots of colors available too. The space is just right especially if only a few were inside. I found huge collection of inks here as well. Your art needs would surely be satisfied here.
It was a nice art store with a lot of interesting art products. I bought a lot of colorful pens because I am doing journaling lately and I'm looking for several art supply to add to my journal stock. If you love painting, you would find canvas board and many paints here as well. It is a complete art store for me.
Great little community art store. They have a great selection of oil paints and carry brands that opus and desseres don't like Williansburg and KAMA. Also build great lightweight stretchers to order. I always send people here when they want stretchers because I have always been really happy with the work they do. The one thing is I wish they had some sort of discount for students or professional artists. I know it's a small shop but even a punch card or something helps justify the higher prices because I want to support local but let's be real, artists are not rolling in money.
A lovely little store! I was guided to the metallic acrylics I was in search of, and they are beautiful and perfect for my needs! Great items for everything paint and beyond. Will definitely visit again.
I love how Teresa makes sure I have what I need, and if not, then makes sure to include it on her next order. I have ordered custom stretched canvases, quality paints such as Rublev, old Holland, and Williamsburg, and the only store that carried my favourite brushes. The store might be small, but it has the personalized shopping experience you can’t get in other stores.
They have a way better selection of professional quality Oil paint and mediums than any other art supply store in town that I know of. They also have great service and knowledgeable staff.
I visited here Rath Art supplies to purchase a couple items such as a wood board for painting, masking tape and specific size of paper pads. They didn't have any of these... Some items were sold out, or don't carry them. It is a small business so I understand they may have smaller inventory than bigger stores, but I would rather go to a larger store to find what I'm looking for. The owner is nice and friendly.
Real awesome staff, really friendly owner? I think shes almost always running the shop since its a small independent store. Got quite the nice collection of supplies. They may not have everything but their sufficiently large collection will suffice considering the small store. Been here a few times and its my fav local art store.
I've been going to Rath for stretchers and panels for many years. Their insistence on quality and fair pricing has always been a great part of the service. The new owners seem determined to improve on even those high standards, confirming options and updating all details of the build process to make sure I'm completely satisfied with the end result. Their selection of products and raw materials is impressive for its discernment and pricing, and they support local artists with their window displays. This place is a treasure.
