Paying Debit NOT? Good enough? Insisted on credit card in case campground burns up? Credit card for insurance? You'd still have to take it to court anyway!!! Stupid Policy! 0 stars.

Great spot for camping backing one of the City's most photographed areas. The Whitemud parks. Secure, raised platforms for tents, RV facilities, showers, and city water. Cars must register for a pass above and beyond camping costs. Truly feels like camping.

We stayed at the rainbow valley campground for a week during June. One afternoon while preparing camp dinner, we heard a massive crack and a huge tree limb fell right onto our tent. Our toddler daughter had just woken up from her nap 10 minutes earlier and luckily was playing with her brother and sister in the playground. I went straight to the front desk to report what had happened and try to understand what would happen next. When I told the woman on front desk (including my daughter's near miss) her response was "cool" - I am not kidding that was actually her response - followed by "it is not our responsibility, the trees are the City of Edmonton's responsibility". The lack of basic compassion was simply astounding. Then we asked them what their process was and did they have any reporting forms etc.. for the City of Edmonton they had nothing and had no idea of what any process was. About an hour after the incident the Head Groundsman turned up and his main concern was clearing away the damage so other guests would not know what had happened - a little late for that! I understand that the tree falling is outside of their control, but their response or lack of it was completely and utterly shocking to us. Whatever about customer service, this was no way to treat people period. When my husband went to check out, the person at front desk actually seemed surprised that we would not be coming back. She also told my husband that the tree in question had been marked for treatment by the City of Edmonton, but there had been no follow up. I fail to understand how they could allow camping on this site if they were aware of this fact. Their complete lack of regard for safety should make people think twice before staying here.

This isn't the first complaint about staff as I look over reviews. My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for 2 weeks as we're visiting from Grande Cache for the summer. Our first week I booked, I had called and spoken to an elder later who had answered the phone with just a hello, making me question who I was even speaking with, she then followed it with rudely taking my reservation and asked for the credit card, I had explained we were using my boyfriends and he wasn't with me and I would call back within 10 minutes. She huffed and puffed, explained I wasted her time etc. Simple mistake. Considering she was so rude, my boyfriend called and re-made the reservation. He explained I called earlier without the credit info and the woman said "we get calls all day" carrying on with the reservation , he had asked questions such as "how big is the lot" and word for word she asked "why does it matter" shocked, my boyfriend just laughed and then continued making the reso, she continued being extremely rude to him, making sarcastic remarks..We booked the last week and they had told us the camp site was available for 11 days. .. our 7th day in I receive a call with a different younger lady asking if our trailer is in the lot.. I confirmed and she had word for word said very unprofessionally "well we had a reservation, you're over your stay , 2 weeks allowed in one season, thanks to you, you screwed us over, get your camper and get out" i tried to ask why the lady had told us it's available for 11 days but she was just complaining and not letting me speak. I just hung up in disgust that someone would even talk to me like that. While I called my boyfriend I waited for him to get back to pack the trailer on his truck, someone had actually unplugged my trailer from the box.. and then looked in all my windows as well opened one. Here I am , scared not knowing what's going on. The only reason I rate this place a 2 star is because the Owls and their new park. You can get a lot that actually has grass elsewhere whom have nice staff.
