We started the hike from Mt Seymour Rd where Baden Powell trail starts. There are few free parking spots. It's an easy and not too long hike . Less than 5km. You'll get the outstanding view of deep cove by the end of the trail.
Pretty easy hike that anyone can do. Not overly long either. Enjoyable I would say. The view is good. Good exercise for anyone. I do it every year.
Easy hike with my pet hedgehogs domestic, not wild. They had a fun time meeting other people as well. Photos taken in 2018 and 2019.
Here's the info I wish someone had written before I went. So I just did the hike. Yes, the trail is technically closed but dozens did it the time I was there. I accessed it from Quarry Rock Trail which is just past Panorama Park. There is some blue construction fencing blocking the start of the trail but don't let that stop you. You just go up to the nice orange house beside the trail and you can still skootch around the fence without too much trouble to get to the trail if the owners aren't outside. You just have to bend a little. Then walk to the stairs and start hiking. The trail isn't in perfect shape - there's a few broken stairs with dirt on them and a small broken bridge - but who cares? You're there to hike! It's really no problem. So don't let the fact that as you pull into town a sign says the trail is closed, stop you. You can still do it. Many do. The view once you get to Quarry Rock is stunningly beautiful. It's well worth the up and down hike. Oh, and don't even think about starting the trail near the end of Panorama Drive like Google Maps shows you could do. You can't. I wasted my time walking in the broiling heat thinking I could. It's on private property with a big metal, electric gate you're not getting around. There might even be a guard in the guard house. I didn't check. So just do the hike from the Quarry Rock Trail start point described above and walk along the Baden-Powell trail until you get to Quarry Rock. You're welcome!
Amazing spot, great view. Hike is easy but with many steps, legs will feel it the next day.
Though the trail is marked as closed, it was still easily hike-able and we saw hikers of all ages hiking up as well. we came on a weekday around noon and there wasn’t too many people; however, expect to wait for parking spot at panaroma park! The view at the top was beautiful, and the hike is very accessible for beginner hikers. I’d recommend shoes with ankle support if you’re prone to rolling your ankle.
Nice easy hike with a gorgeous view to enjoy at the end of the trail. It’s recommended to avoid the peak hours to enjoy the quietness and beauty of the trail as it can get very busy. Not challenging but there’re some slippery sections so proper footwear is still recommended. Please respect the neighborhood near the entrance to the trail, and take your garbage with you when you leave. Very sad to see lots of litters at the top.
Looked online and it said the trail was closed but came down to check it out for myself. It's CLOSED till further notice. Always nice to still come for a walk around and grab a bite. They closed the road off with patio style eating so it's very quiet. Nice vibe. Date today September 16, 2020.
So this whole hike is quite nice but accessing it is a bit difficult at the bottom, other than that it’s a very enjoyable hike. There’s stairs and a very well marked well mountained, I mean, maintained* trail. The view is also very worth the hike, on weekends or holidays the rock is fairly busy but there’s still some spots to be. For those who don’t like hikes as much there is also a road above the rock where you can hike down from which is still kind of fun did not intend to find this out so yeah. I would definitely recommend doing this hike especially because if you’re googling this you don’t get out enough because this should’ve been the first thing you did ever.
Why gym? The best work out in the nature! Height on rock 123m, trail elevation gain 194m. 4 kms round trip in mountain forests. Pure fresh air! Outside trail head is charming and beautiful deep cove :
