One of the best, if not, the best tasting menu in Vancouver. Definitely worth the price and live up the hype. Ambiance: The space was dark and intimate, making it a great choice for a special occasion. The only downside was that it can get slightly crowded when fully booked, but it’s not too noisy and overall experience won’t be affected. Price: The price of the tasting menu was also very reasonable. Before it was awarded a Michelin star, the 12-course tasting menu was only 125 CAD, and even now it is only 150 CAD. This is a great value compared to prices for similar dining experiences in the United States. Food Summer 2022 menu The courses were well-prepared, with a focus on using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients from British Columbia. The restaurant also demonstrated great technique in incorporating fermented ingredients, which added depth and complexity to the flavors. While none of the courses particularly stood out as being especially memorable, the overall execution was impressive and each course was interesting enough. The wine pairing was A LOT. I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of drinks. Overall, I recommend the tasting menu here. As I think it has an opportunity to compete with some of the other restaurants in the US. At 150CAD, it definitely worth a visit!
We celebrated my husband's birthday here and were very impressed! The food was really creative and thought out. The flavors alone we felt like we'd had before at other places however it was the way they combined them together which made this experience stand out. The service was very attentive and friendly. The sommelier was very knowledgeable in helping us choose wine which complimented the dishes we chose. We ordered 6 dishes and 2 desserts between the 2 of us and it was a good amount! Must get the 'Hay' dessert ... It was so good!
This restaurant was wonderful; especially the service! Our server, Lucas, was very nice to us and we loved how proactive he was as he asked if we had any allergies and was interactive throughout the meal. He was also great at promoting the dishes while being honest and genuine. The food was amazing too except for a few dishes. Hay was by far our favourite dessert. We did not expect much from it, but we devoured the whole thing once it arrived. The caviar and waffles was also amazingly made. It was so soft and delicious The pollen bread was also so soft and yummy! I would definitely get that again. The only disappointment was the octopus dish as it was a bit too sour and salty. Some of the other dishes were wonderfully done, but it just did not fit our tastebuds. Overall, fantastic restaurant
Holy sh*t. Where do I start? This place is a GEM. Fantastic menu, delicious, creative cocktails, and a wonderful wine list. And the food - The food was visually stunning, and every flavor was ON POINT. It is simply delicious from start to finish. Dishes are designed to be shared and tasted by all, and honestly, we tried many of them. You can't go wrong with anything they offer. The Chef is a master of his craft, and the front of house staff were ALL fantastic and friendly. Thank you for a very special dinner. I cannot wait to come back for another amazing experience!
Had dinner here tonight with my wife and friends. Average cost for 4 of us was about $100 per head before tax n tip, with a drink of beer / wine. Ordered about 3 dishes each portions get bigger as you move down the menu. Taste was superb though be prepared to order lots as portions are small. Elena's service was very professional and friendly. A definite treat for a special occasion.
Service: Very friendly and personable service, we got good drink recommendations and the atmosphere was casual and not stuffy. We felt well taken care of, staff were all very attentive and made sure to refill our waters and to clean off plates. The pacing was also excellent. Food: We got the tasting menu and unfortunately weren’t blown away despite all the accolades and positive reviews. There were both highs and lows—but felt that there were more lows than highs. Without going into details for each course—we felt that overall, many of the savoury dishes had a similar flavour profile. Most had a broth or sauce that were similar, an acidic cream-type sauce. Some of the elements were just so-so, we had dry beef, pasta that seemed a bit overworked, etc. We also felt that the textures of each dish weren’t varied—many were a protein/veg with some sort of broth or sauce. That said, the first course was fun and tasty—it was great to have a bite of different flavours, textures and mix of savoury/sweet elements. The last protein dish was also super well prepared, the duck’s fat was perfectly rendered and the mushrooms made a great companion. The first dessert was refreshing and well-balanced. I don’t think it would take much to elevate this menu and maybe we came on a slightly off day for the restaurant. Overall: Despite a so-so tasting menu experience, we do want to try their a la cart menu. Perhaps we were also too hyped by their recent star and rave reviews so will want to give it another shot.
Congrats on becoming one of the Top 100 in Canada, I can definitely see why! Now you might be wondering if I'm already praising them, why am I only giving them a 4 star? It's mainly due to the 3+ hours we waited to finish the tasting menu. Other than that, the ambiance and food was amazing. We have always wanted to check out Published and I finally got a table for my girlfriends birthday so we were really excited to check them out. As I wasn't sure what to go for I thought a tasting menu would be the best solution. I can't remember exactly what each dish was but I have pictures to show you. Everything tasted as good as it looked although I would have to say the appetizers were our favourite. Being on Main, parking can be hard to find depending on the day and time. We went for dinner and got lucky a block away. I would say this is more of a dress to impress place so great for a date night or a boujee get together. If you haven't been, I highly recommend checking them out, just make sure you don't have anywhere to go right after or in a rush.
An earnest and memorable experience at the pinnacle of fine dining. The menu is extensive and cohesive, we ordered over a dozen dishes and all of them met our admittedly high expectations. Delicious morsels arrived with curated care by our sever Lucas who was engaging and effortlessly affable. The Sable fish special was a standout for me. The atmosphere was immaculate, no hint of pretention it was pretty clear that everyone on the team was committed to the pursuit of absolute patron enjoyment and I couldn't recommend this place more.
I had a pretty good dinner here. Lots of great things, but a slight disappointment as well, considering how this place was picked as #1 in Canada by Canada’s 100 Best. Their credibility just went down in my books. Overall a great experience, priced reasonably, some tasted very good, others were good, at worst it was ok. Salmon was the biggest let down, wasn’t aware that it was smoked. It was also a bit on the salty side and slightly overcooked. My favourite was surprisingly the prawn toast. Great flavour combinations. Desserts were nice. I would return for a couple of dishes.
Managed to get a spot at the bar on a Saturday night. The hostess was very personable, and the restaurant itself was cozy and intimate without feeling claustrophobic. Our bartender/waiter was wonderful, he was so well-versed in the menu and specials and knew all the little details of each dish, including the sustainable sources which is always a plus for me. Overall, the service, food and ambience were all top notch. This place has definitely earned it’s Michelin status.
