We sat at the bar, our host was the lady with short hair. She was great! Great recommendations on wines and food, and very good chat. The wines were all on point, we liked it that it wasn’t so meat-focused, with nice fish and vegetables too. The whole ambience was great with other staff too being very friendly. It was a great night out.
Disappointed on the food, but wine, service and atmosphere were excellent. Really beautiful interior and friendly staff. I would honestly recommend coming here after you have eaten something already. Ordered half of the items on the menu, lamb belly was delicious other than that, food was average and it’s pricey considering the portion. Staff were attentive and friendly, we enjoyed the dining experience. Wine recommended by the staff was great. I would come back but definitely not for dinner but the wine only.
The wine list and cocktail menu aren’t online not that I found! but they do have drinks! Wine by the glass is available but changes every day and written on the door! Had the eggplant dip which was amazing! Sable fish was beautifully seasoned and the lamb which was cooked very well! Would recommend visiting!
Our server was delightful and knowledgeable about the drinks. All the wines we’ve tried were lovely. The food look beautiful, but all the sauce for the kale salad and the sable fish were too strong/salty/overpowering for my taste. We also ordered the lamb belly, which was not good….I had a bite and couldn’t finishI was very hungry…. . I finished duck liver parfait though. It was only thing that was yummy.. Maybe I had a high expectation since I am a big fan of Published on Main. I probably go back just for the drinks.
Interesting restaurant with interesting menu, by the people behind Published on Main. Some of them tasted middle east, which feels very unique. The presentation of the food was twisted a little bit, like beef tartare is served on pancakes, and duck liver parfait served like cupcakes. I love the smoked lamb belly most, its crispy outside and extremely juicy inside. The only complaint that minus one star is the portion of the food is small. And it was a let down The Don's Choice chef's selection was sold out at 6pm, they said others booked and there was a daily limit.
The food was okay in my opinion. We got the tasting menu and felt some of the dishes had nothing special to them. The combination of fois gras and seaweed didnt really work for me. Aside from the food i did love the ambience and the music they played. We also got through the entire cocktail menu we quite enjoyed their drinks
Had such a lovely dining experience at Bar Susu! I came here with 3 friends. We made an early reservation, and the place started packing up very fast 20 minutes after we were seated. Our server was super friendly and informative particularly informing us on our best gluten-free options as one of my friends is Celiac and gave great food and wine recommendations. The food here is really, really good. My favs from this menu are the kale salad and pork collar. Everything we ordered was really great, from the food to the drinks we got. Every thing came out pretty fast too and mind you we finally came to a decision after people were coming in. My one gripe is that the portions are on the smaller side. Even if I was just sharing with one other person instead 3 others, it still wouldn’t be much for me I fear. I’d recommend this place as a romantic date spot with great wine and drink selection, and if you’re ok with not feeling very full at the end of a meal or balling hard to order a lot. 4.5/5
Slightly disappointing. The actual space is beautiful. Not much changed from The Whip. Staff are all very friendly and was the highlight of the experience. The food was a bit lackluster. The black cod that broth! and beet salad were excellent, but the rest was mostly forgettable. The duck confit was presentation was pretty pedestrian. The cocktail list was inventive, but very few appealed to me. The wine list is extensive, but pricey. After trying what we did, collectively had no reason to return. Our expectations may have been high due to the pedigree of the excellent Published. The table next us had their entire bill paid by the restaurant. Announcing it as loud as they did and fist bumping the chef or owner while I was paying $200, most likely a similar if not more, left a sour taste as well.
Great experience overall with the food, service and cocktail selection. We did the "Don's choice" for $55/pp and highly recommend this to take away the thinking. We were a party of 3 and was served 5 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts. This was plenty of food and selection for the table as we ended up taking some food home. The chargrilled sablefish was a great first bite and flavorful. The little bite of foie mousse was decadent. The crude was the least favorite of the table as the fish itself was a bit on the fishy side and wasn't as bright as you would expect. The 2 mains were well portioned and beautifully executed on the sablefish with basil and the beef chin shen?. The dessert was simple and uncomplicated but delivered a great finishing bite to the meal that wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. If I have to do a cocktail again, thr pumpkin pie was . Will definitely come again when a new menu is up! Well done!
Other than the great wine selection, Bar Susu was underwhelming. We had high hopes having been to Published but the food portions were tiny and very pricey. Definitely curated food for drinking, not for dinner. The service was also poor. Our server never came back to check in after we ordered drinks. We had to wave her down to order food, even though we have been sitting with the menu in front of us for over 40 minutes.
