Beautiful garden and maintained very well! The paths are easy to walk on. The flowers were in full bloom. There were people just taking a stroll, sitting on park benches, or grabbing a bite with friends/coworkers. Great place to eat outside. I can imagine locals coming here for daily walks. There are probably events held at the park as well during the summer. So glad I got to visit while I was in Halifax!
Stunning display of Victorian gardens, carefully laid out and well tended for public enjoyment. Tours are offered and Volunteers are available to answer questions. A small coffee shop offers lighter fare for a snack. Test rooms are also available on site. Lovely bridges and meandering water features are planted with lovely trees, shrubs, and flowers. A must see for the garden enthusiast.
So beautiful, peaceful, clean, well maintained garden, free walk-in, parking on the street $1.50/hr. Public Wifi available. Even on a hot day, nice breeze inside the garden. Grab a sandwich and a drink, find a bench with shade by the water, enjoy your meal, take nap if you want keep the area clean. #animals are not scared of human presence
Do you love flowers and have a couple of hours to spare - then go here. Entry is free and it's in the hub of Halifax - saw a lot of buses so it's well connected I think. You can walk around or sit and enjoy all the different flowers. if you are driving then there's parking just outside the gardens.
What a beautifull garden in the core of the city! We went there for a nice walk. The flowers were beautiful. Very cool garden to hangout with friends and family.. Cool spot some some romantic dates too. :
A must see if you're visiting Halifax! Admission and tours are free, and the gardens are breath taking and detailed. The added historical information you'll get from a 30-45 minute tour from one of the volunteers is well-worth it! Harry was our tour guide and his commentary added a lot to our visit! I only wish our trip would have overlapped with the Dahlia festival. They also regularly host events, so be sure to check out what's on. We missed a classical trio by a day
Beautiful gardens that definitely have had a lot of time and effort put into it over many years. Some plants you can tell have been there for many many years based on their shear size. I would like to go maybe more towards the end of July when the annual plants are more mature. One complaint I do have is that we cut other activities that day short to ensure we would make it in time to the last free tour of the day 3pm when we arrive around 245 to check in they told us there was no tour guide for that tour so we would have to just do a self guided one with the map, which is fine but just not the same.
Beautiful place even during the winter. Lots of ducks here, seagulls and pigeons. Very nice plants and trees. I like the atmosphere here, it feels like Autumn English park. Very cozy and nice. In the centre of the park you can find a little lake. Also, a great 200 yo fontaine here. Totally recommend this place for walking and spending weekends. Playground: Big playground for kids. Picnic area: You definitely can have a great picnic here. A lot of place
These gardens are one of the highlights of my vacation in Nova Scotia. The smells from the flowers were wonderful. There are ample places to sit on a park bench and admire the flowers or watch the ducks in the pond. The sheer size of the gardens is impressive. There is a café which serves coffee, ice cream, and other sweets. I know flowers are flowers but if you have chance, fit the gardens into your day.
A perfect place to relax on a bright clear day. This colorful place is exactly the thing you need to get away from the city. Situated in the heart of the city, it's a nice retreat with a small river, a happening crowd, and a lot of events that take place.
