Overall, one of the better privately owned campsites I've been to. I had booked for a few nights but had to leave after just one due to personal issues, the worker was very kind and understanding. Pros: - The washrooms are actually washrooms. Not just holes in the ground. And they are clean. - The showers are free - wood is decently priced - campsites are surrounded by trees, making it easy to hand things such as Tarps. - campsite comes with firepit, and picnic table - family friendly campground, didn't notice any late night noises or parties. - staff are very friendly - right near the beach and lake. *Possible* cons - the firepit didn't have a grill - campsites were pretty close together
So we've been here a couple times when visiting the island. The location is awesome, right across from Providence bay beach. Easy to walk to. If you want to go to the best part of the beach and be closer to the fish and chip place in town, then you can easily drive in, it's like a 3 minute drive. The beach is excellent. Sandy, cool water and you can walk out pretty far before it gets deep. There is even a pretty neat spot where the Mindemoya river empties into the lake through the beach and the mouth of the river changes shape everyday. It's cool. The grounds of the park are like any other camp ground. Sites aren't secluded, you will have to set your site up to provide yourself with privacy if that's what you desire. The grounds are clean and when I arrived my site had been raked and fire ring appeared emptied. When we visited people were quiet. There are many seasonal campers there. The bathrooms here are dated but really they get the job done. You can have a hot shower, use the facilities and get cleaned up. It looked like a few were closed when we were here last and they had porta-potties outside of them. They have firewood available at a reasonable price. The staff all seem friendly. I will say there was one lady in the office, younger one, she seems to be a no nonsense person so don't go to her with any frivolous complaints because she won't have it. Some french Canadians were in the office when I was leaving and they were trying to explain a problem they were having but their English wasn't 100% and she seemed to be getting annoyed by them. One recommendation I would have is to update the website. It's pretty useless. I don't even think you can view a map of the park on it. Maybe I am used to being able to book things online instantly, so when you have to call and give your credit card over the phone to secure your site and not even know where the campsite is or what it looks like, it's kind of antiquated. I'm sure it's a huge cost that might not be worth investing in. Just an old way of doing things. Providence bay is in a good location on the island because you can do small day trips to every corner of the island so this location is a good base camp to stay at. Would I recommend this campground? Yes. Would I stay here again? Yes.
Nice sites and for the most part pretty private. Easy bike ride or walk into town. Centrally located for day trips. Enjoyed the easy access to the beach. Washrooms need some work but definitely would stay again.
Can’t fault the location, directly opposite the beach! We’ve driven across Canada and camped along the way. This was one of the most expensive campsites, and had some of the worst facilities! Only 2 showers for the whole campsite. Washrooms and showers were really old, grimey, and dirty. Our closet washrooms/showers were closed and replaced with portaloos. We were disappointed for the price.
Arrived late and the ladies were more than accommodating! We just had a car and tent and stayed in an area called the Sunny Circle. Great times!
The people running the park are awesome! Great place to stay.Service: 5/5
So close to a great beach, wheelbarrow load of wood came with camp fee. Nice staff and decent sized campsite.
Beautiful beach and a great restaurant serving real jerk chicken! Had a great time over the Canada Day long weekend, and I could not believe how hard the young men were working behind the counter serving ice cream.
Beautiful campground! Right across the road from the beach, clean sites, friendly staff and good prices. We came on a motorcycle with a tent and our dog and had an amazing time. It was nice and quiet as well which I enjoyed. A lovely spot to get away to. Would definitely recommend and would love to return again in the future.
Amazing Campground! The sites are private and well treed! I highly recommend this place!
