Portage Park Elementary School

My little sister and I attended for a couple of years. Good public school and great after school programs.

Updated review: This was a great school. Til one day my daughter came home and told me her teacher hit her on her forehead. She even said other children looked on reenacting what the teacher did to eachother thinking they it was ok to hit eachother. I brought up to the principal and when she completely dismissed my daughter and automatically sided with the teacher without even hearing out both sides of the story. We then had a meeting in which she laughed in my face and tried to belittle me and my parenting. The teacher claimed there was tons of students near her desk and she hit my daughter on accident but my daughter said it was reading time on the floor and all the students were sitting on the floor and only 3 students were near her desk being tutored including my daughter when the incident accured. I said if it was an accident why wasn't I informed that day by the teacher. The police were called and the teacher is now on watch. I know not all children are perfect but my daughter is very shy and sensitive and would never lie. For a principal to okay that type of behavior from teachers is disgusting. Its been 2 years since have removed my children from this horrid school.

Attended and graduated in June 1955. Wonderful teachers and friends. Many warm memories between kindergarten and 8th grade. If I could go back and start over again, I'd do it in a heartbeat....happily!

Very involved school with a great supportive team of staff and teachers alike.
