We rolled in on a Sunday afternoon and got the last spot. Campsites practically on top of each other, no privacy or trees. Alot of people with reservations, never showed up, so the good spots were empty. I can saw the waterfalls made it worth it! There are few there and many, many stairs to get to them, also a cool bridge. You can also hike to the river mouth and fish. There are also stairs that lead right to the lake, you can sit on the rocks and watch the sunset right off the water, its amazing!! Out houses were clean and the girl was sanitizing the door handles and toilets!! There is a water pump.
The site numbers are painted on the concrete road, no signs are available. Look down! For non-powered sites, Site # 2, 4 and 6 are on the edge of lake Superior, giving superior view. No pun intended 6 has the best view with the least trees but also can be quite windy at night. Walk-in sites such as 12-15 need some footwork to bring all your stuff to the site. Cars can only be parked some distance away. Also no firewood for sale on-site. Bring some along the way to save another 15 mile trip. In all great campground!
Great State Park and Campground. But bring your own TP for the pit toilets.
This was our favorite campground in the park. Right on the lake and less populated than union bay. It is rustic but has water and pit toilets that are fairly nice as far as pit toilets go. The sunset on the lake was gorgeous. And the campground has quick easy access to one of the waterfall hikes. I would definitely stay here again!
Good spot with some nice hikes near by
Very nice campground. Some of the site can handle larger rigs. Two sections, one allows generators. Good hiking trails with access to Lake Superior. A couple nice waterfalls also.
Great campground with wonderful hiking trails. Beach access is available, although it is not an easy trek to the main beach with a large staircase and steep cliff decent. However it is directly connected to some great trail network to explore!
Beautiful! Walking on the trails to see breathtaking views of 3 waterfalls. Peaceful to be out in nature.
Gorgeous view nice short walks and long walks
Had a wonderful time it was so beautiful
