Platte Lake Resort II

This resort has a lovely setting and feels reasonably private. There are two cottages facing each other with a nice lawn inbetween. We found all of the outdoor accommodation to be very enjoyable; including three decks with tables and chairs, a fire pit, a boat dock with steps down to the water with an aluminium boat (for which we rented a motor), a canoe and a Kayak. The inside of the largest cabin would have been just fine except that the couch and chairs were all very uncomfortable. The couch had plywood under the cushions probably to keep it from sagging as it is an old hide-a-bed. Even with the very hard seats it might have been tolerable except that it throws your back at a very uncomfortable angle. The two chairs weren't much better. Yes, we know that this place is about outdoor living but one does need a place to relax at the end and beginning of the day and these old pieces of bad furniture made it difficult to do. Comfortable used furniture is available in garage sales for very little money which made it difficult for us to understand how the hosts could expect anyone to put up with this kind of discomfort. Frankly, it felt disrespectful and totally unnecessary. Bring your own pillows as some of the pillows are very flat and some of the beds are pretty hard. In spite of my grumpy view of the furniture, I enjoyed this vacation and this place. It is in a nice location and our stay had beautiful weather.
